The Monell Chemical Senses Center is a world-renowned non-profit research institute, and a global leader dedicated to advancing knowledge about the senses of taste, smell, and related senses and translating its discoveries into real-world advances in policy, practice, and behavior. Monell is located in the heart of the vibrant educational and life sciences hub of Philadelphia. The Lal/Le lab is seeking a Research Technician
The scientist in this role will work with a dynamic project team to execute psychophysical/sensory experiments toward improving the palatability of important medications to facilitate compliance with prescribed treatment regimens. Specific responsibilities include maintaining stocks and purchasing research supplies, recruiting and scheduling human research participants, preparing samples for tasting, executing psychophysical tests following specified protocols, record keeping/data entry, and communicating results to the project team.
Position Summary:
Lal lab laboratory at Monell chemical senses center is seeking a highly motivated Research Technician to support research projects focused on hibernation biology. The position will involve hands-on work with mammalian cell culture, animal studies and data analysis.
Qualifications
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in biology, biomedical sciences, or a related field
- Experience with coding including R and phython,
- Analysis of large dataset
- Cell culture or animal handling
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with coding and data analysis
- Familiarity with basic molecular biology techniques (Western blot, snRNA sequencing, data analysis)
- Prior experience in an academic or biomedical research laboratory
