Job description

Job Overview
Provide laboratory testing services to Hubbell business units and third-party customers in the Centralia test laboratory including but not limited to high-power, high-voltage, continuous current, mechanical, and environmental testing.

A Day In The Life
MAJOR JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Oversee operations in test laboratory including evaluation of test requests and test program development.
  • Review test data for accuracy, consistency with test plans, and approving reports for release.
  • Assist technicians to perform product testing including setup, planning and reporting.
  • Maintain laboratory accreditation to ISO 17025, including managing equipment calibration records, maintenance, and quality documents and procedures.
  • Assist Laboratory Manager to define, initiate and manage capital equipment and automation projects.
  • Will be trained to interpret industry standards and to become a subject-matter expert with regards to electrical utility product and equipment testing.

What will help you thrive in this role?
Required:
  • Minimum Bachelor's degree in an Engineering discipline required.
  • Minimum 3 years experience in equipment manufacturing, utility experience, or test laboratory operations.
  • Previous experience in product testing, electrical research, quality control, standards engineering and/or reliability engineering roles.
  • Must be able to effectively communicate complex topics often using teleconferencing tools, presentations and speaking in front of groups
  • Must be a self starter with strong drive, initiative, and ability to work with limited management input.
  • Ability to travel up to 10% of the time, domestic and international.

Preferred:
  • Bachelor's degree in mechanical or electrical engineering is preferred, but individuals with other Engineering degrees with significant relevant experience and knowledge base will be considered.
  • Proficiency drafting and design utilizing Autodesk or SolidWorks products.
  • Experience coding in visual basic, C, python, or other programming languages.
  • Experience with PLC programming, preferably Allen Bradley.
