Registered Nurse – Cardiac Services (Stress Lab)

Compensation: $32 to $47 per hour depending on years of experience


Position Purpose

The Cardiac Services RN (Stress Lab) provides specialized care to patients undergoing diagnostic cardiac testing. This role involves patient assessment, monitoring during stress testing and EKG procedures, preparation and review of test results, and patient education. The nurse collaborates closely with physicians and cardiac technologists to ensure accurate testing and safe, high-quality care for patients with actual or suspected cardiac conditions.


Minimum Education

  • Associate Degree in Nursing (required; BSN preferred)


Experience

  • 3 months to 1 year of relevant nursing experience preferred
  • Stress Lab, Cardiac Services, EKG, or telemetry experience strongly preferred
  • Critical care or step-down experience is a plus


Licenses / Certifications

  • Active RN license in Wisconsin and/or Illinois (based on assignment)
  • Current BLS certification from the American Heart Association or Red Cross (required, or ability to obtain within 6 weeks of hire)
  • Current ACLS certification (required, or ability to obtain within 6 weeks of hire)


Skills & Abilities

  • Strong knowledge of cardiac monitoring, arrhythmia recognition, and response to cardiac emergencies
  • Proficiency in EKG interpretation and stress testing procedures
  • Ability to anticipate and respond to changes in patient condition during testing
  • Excellent communication skills to educate patients and coordinate with providers
  • Strong organizational skills for scheduling and managing diagnostic testing


Key Responsibilities

  • Provide patient assessment and monitoring before, during, and after stress testing and other non-invasive cardiac procedures
  • Perform EKGs, stress tests, and other diagnostic cardiac assessments
  • Administer medications as appropriate and in accordance with physician orders and policies
  • Recognize abnormal cardiac findings and intervene promptly when necessary
  • Educate patients on procedures, results, and follow-up care instructions
  • Schedule and coordinate diagnostic testing as ordered by providers
  • Document patient assessments, test results, and interventions accurately and timely
  • Support the safe, efficient workflow of the Stress Lab and Cardiac Services unit
