Job Description Overview Join a dynamic healthcare team as a Medical Lab Technologist working in a clinical setting that values precision, quality, and safety. This role offers the opportunity to utilize your laboratory expertise, ensuring accurate test analyses and timely reporting to support patient care. If you are passionate about laboratory science and committed to excellence, this position provides a rewarding environment to advance your career. Follow laboratory procedures for specimen handling, processing, and test analyses, maintaining detailed records of patient test results. Ensure proficiency testing samples are tested consistently with patient specimens, adhering to quality standards. Analyze specimens using approved testing procedures according to department SOPs. Review and release test results in compliance with established guidelines. Adhere to CLIA, HIPAA, OSHA, and safety regulations to ensure a compliant and safe laboratory environment. Document all quality control activities, including instrument and procedural calibrations, maintenance, and corrective actions. Identify potential issues affecting test performance or result reporting and take appropriate corrective actions or notify supervisors. Perform and document all testing activities in accordance with department policies, including reporting of STATS or Critical results to clients. Maintain complete records of testing performed on-site and ensure reagents and test kits are properly labeled with received, expiration, and open dates. Participate in training for new procedures and attend departmental and safety meetings regularly. Maintain the overall appearance and cleanliness of the laboratory environment. Assist in government or regulatory agency inspections as needed and respond to customer or lab personnel inquiries. Perform other duties as assigned by supervision to support laboratory operations. Understanding of basic and high-complexity laboratory testing processes. Proficiency in using computer systems and laboratory information management software. Knowledge of quality control (QC) and quality assurance (QA) procedures. Ability to analyze and review test results accurately and efficiently. Strong attention to detail and organizational skills for handling multiple procedures simultaneously. Bachelor's degree in Medical Technology, Chemistry, Biology, or an associate degree in Laboratory Science or Medical Technology, preferred. Certification as a Medical Technologist (MT) or Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT) from a recognized organization (e.g., ASCP or AMT), or eligibility for certification. At least 1 year of clinical laboratory experience in high or complex testing, with chemistry experience preferred. Experience in running tests in a well-established laboratory environment. Valid national or state licensure as required. Strong computer skills and the ability to adapt to multiple laboratory information systems. Must be able to handle multiple priorities and maintain patient confidentiality. Ability to participate in safety training, regulatory inspections, and relevant continuing education.
