We are looking for a Lab Technologist to join our dedicated team and bring skill, precision, and compassion to a role that directly impacts the health of our community.

Compensation: Starting at $40/hour

Job Summary

We are seeking a PRN skilled Laboratory Technician to join our team at Weston County Health Services. As the Laboratory Technician, this position is responsible for providing WCHS and all affiliated health care providers with high-quality laboratory Services. Performs a variety of laboratory tests, from routine to complex, which requires independent judgement and responsibility; Reports results, maintains, records, equipment, and quality control.

Qualification

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Graduate of an accredited MLS or MLT Program.
  • Current registration with certifying board registration or equivalent.
  • Has and maintains Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification.
  • Has the ability to teach, train, and coach.

Physical Requirements & Environmental Conditions

  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer and/or standing.
  • Occasional overtime or after-hours calls may occur.
  • Must be able to cover any shift if the need arises
  • Must be able to access, find, and navigate each department at WCHS.
  • Positions requires light to moderate work with 50 pounds maximum weight to lift and carry.
  • Position requires reaching, bending, stooping, and handling objects with hands and/or fingers, talking and/or hearing, and seeing.

Responsibilities

  • Maintains medical laboratory equipment performance by maintaining quality standards, operations, quality, and troubleshooting procedures, compliance, certifying instrument performance, arranging equipment replacement, service, and repair.
  • Maintains medical laboratory information system by identifying information needs and problems, recommends improvements, establishes priorities, tests, and maintains security and confidentiality at all times.
  • Laboratory Technicians are required to cover any/all shifts when needed as required by the Laboratory Manager.
  • Assists with analysis and trending of occupational exposure incidents and information exchange.
  • Attends and participates in staff meetings and other assigned meetings.
  • Adheres to accreditation and compliance standard guidelines.
  • Assists in completing required reports, program reviews and preparation.
  • Utilizes good communication skills to maintain positive relationships with clients, providers, co-workers and other sections in the organization and with other facilities in the community.
  • Replenishes supplies as needed.
  • Follows all infection control practices including hand washing techniques, Standard Precautions and Isolation Precautions.
