As a Computer Lab Assistant, you'll support students and staff with basic computer and printing needs, help troubleshoot common issues, and keep the lab running smoothly - all while working a schedule that fits your classes.

JOB TITLE: 

ATS (Academic Technology Services) Computer Lab Assistant

JOB PURPOSE: 

  • Provide friendly, helpful basic computer support and assist users with printing and software problems.
  • Get paid to do your homework and help others in the lab space to be productive as well.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

THIS IS A WORK STUDY JOB LISTING. (If you do not have a federal work study, you must apply using our non-work study application.) 

  • Provide basic computer support and assist users with printing and software problems. 
  • Troubleshoot account, quota, and email problems for lab users.  
  • Keep labs clean/orderly, collect lost/found items, and maintain records of print deposits.  
  • Can complete exams and optional training to earn raises.  

Perks include: additional printing abilities, ability to do homework while on duty, on-campus employment, scheduling around classes (including 1 hour shifts), same schedule for whole semester, flexible time off, ability to pick up additional shifts beyond regular schedule.  

  • Shifts available days, evenings, weekends, and overnights.  Those with availability between 7am and 1pm M-F or for shifts 5pm-11pm usually given preference.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Education: Enrolled UW College Student
  • Experience:Customer Service
  • Other requirements: Familiarity with Consumer Technology

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Excellent customer service skills
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Windows and Office
  • Basic computing skills  
  • Ability to troubleshoot problems and communicate solutions
  • Work with cash amounts in US dollars up to $100
