Position Summary:
The Physics Laboratory Student Worker will provide support in the preparation, operation, and organization of physics laboratory activities. Under the supervision of the Department Chair and faculty, the student worker will assist in setting up and maintaining lab experiments, tracking and managing inventory, creating and testing new lab activities, and providing in-lab support to students during scheduled sessions if possible. This position is an excellent opportunity for students interested in deepening their practical skills in physics while contributing to the success of the department's instructional mission.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Prepare and set up laboratory experiments prior to class sessions.
  • Assist in the creation, testing, and refinement of laboratory activities.
  • Monitor and maintain lab equipment and supplies, including inventory control.
  • Provide in-lab assistance to students, ensuring safe and effective use of equipment.
  • Record and track laboratory data as needed.
  • Assist faculty with special projects related to laboratory development.

Minimum Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications:
  • Successful completion of the full College Physics sequence.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and MATLAB.
  • Enrollment in at least 6 credit hours during the semester of employment.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively.
