Responsibilities:

  • Develop an understanding for the specific mechanical engineering requirements per project
  • Study and become familiar with the elementary system drawings
  • Conveyor manifests
  • Engineering hours estimate
  • Project contract requirements and options
  • Provide technical interface with customer's project representative(s)
  • Project scope definitions
  • Contract change orders
  • Customer specifications / standards.
  • 3D model reviews
  • Develop and maintain a mechanical engineering schedule that provides timely delivery of material to fully support an installation schedule.
  • Firm grasp of project contract documents including clarifications and exceptions. Execute the project within the budget and hours in the contract estimate.
  • Provide technical support for vendors, field installation personnel, and engineering subcontractors as related to inquiries
  • Host and support weekly meetings with project team members and customers
  • Delegate and monitor tasks given to engineering team members on regular cadence
  • Maintain project-specific requirements while applying general knowledge of conveying systems, conveying equipment and customer general specifications and standards
  • Interpret and ensure compliance with customer specifications.
  • Communicate project specific information with other MHS departments including project management, purchasing, electrical engineering, field installation and fabrication department.
  • Release drawings for installation and fabrication
  • Create material purchase requests
  • Relate information regarding changes to scope of work for the project as they occur.
  • Communicate status updates to engineering management on a regular cadence
  • Be cognoscente of areas for professional development, cost reduction, quality improvements and enhanced customer service.
  • Check drawings provided by mechanical designers for accuracy and provide feedback for corrections as needed.
  • Perform or assist in directing engineering analysis as determined by project needs in disciplines including structural, mechanical power transmission and fluid power.

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Works well in a schedule-driven environment
  • Complete detail-oriented work producing above average results
  • Read, understand, and apply customer specifications
  • Communicate effectively with customers, vendors, and co-workers
  • Above-average interpersonal skills
  • Ability to organize and prioritize a variety of tasks in an effective and timely manner, organize your own work, participate in setting priorities, and meet critical time deadlines
  • Understand and practice good time management
  • Ability to multi-task and work on more than one project at a single time
  • Effectively lead and mentor a project team of 5-12 engineers and designers
  • Experience with Microsoft Office, such as Outlook and Excel are required
  • Familiar with AutoCAD and Inventor, Navisworks, and BIM is a plus
  • Experience with Microsoft Project is a plus
  • Experience with power transmission equipment and steel fabrication is a plus

Education and Experience:

  • Three to Five years of material handling equipment experience preferably within the conveyor systems industry
  • Experience with executing and support medium to large projects
  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or equivalent experience in mechanical engineering and design

Travel Requirements:

Some domestic travel required +/- 10%. Depends on project needs and urgency
