Job description

Summary

The Facility Operations Manager I is responsible for overseeing daily plant operations, including drum pumping, drum dumping, tank farm operations, truck loading/offloading, wastewater treatment, and waste processing activities. This role serves as the second in command in the absence of the General Manager and is responsible for driving operational efficiency, maintaining regulatory compliance, supporting employee development, and ensuring all Health & Safety standards are followed throughout the facility.

Pay Range
$37,350.00 - $119,972.70 Annually

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Chemistry or related field preferred
  • 5-7 years of plant operations and/or industrial management experience required
  • Equivalent combinations of education and experience may be considered in lieu of a degree
  • DOT training required
  • Previous experience supervising plant operations and personnel preferred
  • Strong leadership, management, and team-building skills
  • Experience with tank farm operations, wastewater treatment, fuels blending, warehouse operations, and waste handling preferred
  • Knowledge of operational safety standards and environmental compliance regulations
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced industrial environment while maintaining safety and operational standards
  • Strong communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills

Responsibilities

  • Oversee daily plant operations including drum pumping, drum dumping, tank farm operations, truck loading/offloading, wastewater treatment, fuels blending, shredder operations, inventory management, and waste tracking systems
  • Manage multiple operational areas and shifts within the facility while supervising Operations Supervisors, Plant Foremen, and plant personnel
  • Ensure proper waste routing and operational efficiencies are maintained throughout the facility
  • Partner with the General Manager on hiring, employee development, disciplinary actions, and workforce planning
  • Assist in analyzing operational profitability and identifying opportunities to improve throughput and efficiencies
  • Ensure employees follow all applicable Health & Safety policies, procedures, and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs)
  • Maintain ownership and oversight of permit-required compliance standards for operational areas
  • Develop and monitor daily production goals to support facility performance and operational success
  • Maintain compliance with DOT, EPA, OSHA, and facility-specific regulations
  • Perform additional duties as assigned based on business needs
