Job description

We are seeking an experienced and hands-on Kitchen Manager to oversee daily kitchen operations for our catering and food service company. The ideal candidate is organized, calm under pressure, food-safety focused, and capable of leading a diverse kitchen team while ensuring quality, consistency, and efficiency.

This role is critical to maintaining high culinary standards, controlling food and labor costs, and supporting the successful execution of catering events, daily meal production, and special projects.

Key Responsibilities

Kitchen Operations

  • Manage daily kitchen production, prep schedules, and event execution

  • Ensure all food is prepared to company standards for quality, taste, and presentation

  • Oversee proper food handling, storage, labeling, and rotation (FIFO)

  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of kitchen, storage, and equipment areas

Staff Management

  • Supervise, train, and schedule kitchen staff (prep cooks, line cooks, dish staff)

  • Enforce kitchen policies, safety procedures, and performance expectations

  • Lead by example with professionalism, teamwork, and accountability

  • Assist with onboarding and ongoing staff development

Food Safety & Compliance

  • Ensure compliance with all health department regulations and company food safety standards

  • Maintain ServSafe and ensure staff follow proper sanitation practices

  • Prepare for and assist with health inspections

Inventory & Cost Control

  • Monitor food usage, waste, and portion control

  • Assist with ordering, receiving, and inventory management

Event & Catering Support

  • Coordinate kitchen execution for catering events and large-scale orders
