Job Description

The Prep Cook position supports kitchen staff in preparing meals and ingredients. Duties include organizing and labeling food items in storage closets, chopping ingredients, and sanitizing their workstations during and after service.

In-person in St. George UT, 84790: Reliably commute or plan to relocate before starting work (required).

Responsibilities

  • Completing all tasks, in order, on the prep list from the Kitchen Manager.
  • Labeling and stocking all ingredients on easily accessible shelves.
  • Washing, chopping, and sorting ingredients on easily accessible shelves.
  • Measuring quantities of seasonings and other cooking ingredients.
  • Parboiling food, reducing sauces, and starting the first steps in various dishes.
  • Cleaning dishes, washing cooking utensils and cookware.
  • Taking out trash and sanitizing the kitchen.
  • Adhering to all relevant nutrition and sanitary regulations and standards.
  • Keeping track of ingredient inventory and collaborating with other kitchen and management staff to efficiently create supply orders.

Skills / Experience

  • Requires basic knife skills.
  • Must possess a valid Food Handler Card.
  • Demonstrates the ability to effectively interact with fellow team members in a friendly, enthusiastic, and outgoing manner.
  • Works well in a fast-paced environment.
  • Knowledge of health, safety, and sanitation practices.
  • Comprehension of the English language, both written and oral.

Physical Requirements

  • Work in an open-air environment and move throughout the restaurant within the airport.
  • Work outdoors less than 25% of the time.
  • Must possess the ability to lift, bend, and kneel.
  • Must be able to stand and walk swiftly for long periods of time while carrying large service trays.
  • Ability to work in environments that can be smoky, noisy, hot, cold, or humid.
  • Must be able to lift 25 pounds without assistance and lift 50 pounds with assistance.
