The cafeteria worker, under close supervision, performs the more routine duties involved in the preparation and serving of food and in cleaning the kitchen equipment and facilities. This position requires continuous standing, moderate physical work and the ability to work well with others.

PRIMARY FUNCTION
Perform the different cafeteria duties in an efficient, clean and friendly manner in which students are served nutritious meals.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Works well with people, especially children, and maintains a pleasant and positive work attitude. Also, must be able to work well with fellow workers.
  • Follows proper food sanitation and cleanliness procedures.
  • Possess technical skills necessary to successfully complete different cafeteria duties and demonstrates willingness to learn new skills.
  • Follows School Board policies and administrative procedures.
  • Must be able to follow directions.
  • Ability to manually move, shelve, stack, or raise from floor to table or serving area heavy objects (pots, pans, trays, and food supplies) weighing up to 40 pounds.
  • Must be flexible.
  • Be dependable, honest and trustworthy.

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Prepare quality, nutritious food items as directed by the School Cafeteria Manager.
  • Serve food items according to the size portion to meet necessary age group requirements.
  • Operate equipment in a safe, proper and efficient manner.
  • Maintain the highest standards of safety, sanitation and cleanliness in the kitchen. To clean all kitchen equipment, wash and sterilize dishes, silverware and utensils as assigned to proper sanitation procedures.
  • Immediately report all accidents to the School Cafeteria Manager.
  • Immediately report any product quality or operational problem to the School Cafeteria Manager. To perform other duties as assigned by the School Cafeteria Manager.

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT
Employment and Salary according to School Board Pay Plan.
EVALUATION
