Once approved, the designers coordinate with the vendors, contractors, and installers to see the planned vision for a new kitchen come to life.

Job description

Benchmark Kitchen & Bath — Salem, Massachusetts

Benchmark Kitchen & Bath is a successful and rapidly growing kitchen and bath showroom with a strong reputation for quality products, thoughtful design, and exceptional customer service. We are preparing to move into a beautiful new facility in Salem, and we are looking for an experienced Kitchen Designer to join our growing team.

This is an exciting opportunity for a designer who enjoys working directly with clients and takes pride in creating beautiful, functional spaces while also having the technical skills necessary to bring those designs to life.

The Position

The Kitchen Designer will be responsible for designing residential kitchens from the initial client consultation through the completed design. You will work closely with homeowners to understand their needs, preferences, budget, and vision, then develop thoughtful kitchen designs that balance aesthetics, functionality, and proper construction practices.

This is a highly customer-service-oriented position with a significant technical component. The ideal candidate will be equally comfortable sitting down with a client to discuss their vision, taking accurate field measurements, and developing a detailed kitchen design using 2020 Design software.

Responsibilities
  • Meet with homeowners to understand their needs, style, and project goals
  • Design residential kitchens that are both beautiful and highly functional
  • Produce detailed kitchen designs using 2020 Design software
  • Accurately measure existing kitchens and job sites
  • Develop cabinetry layouts and detailed specifications
  • Apply knowledge of cabinetry, kitchen construction, and standard industry practices
  • Guide customers through cabinetry, hardware, countertops, and other design selections
  • Communicate effectively with customers, contractors, and vendors
  • Revise designs based on customer feedback while maintaining functionality and design integrity
  • Ensure designs are accurate and ready for ordering and installation
  • Provide an exceptional customer experience throughout the design process
Qualifications

The ideal candidate will have:

  • Previous experience designing residential kitchens
  • Strong working knowledge of 2020 Design software
  • The ability to accurately measure kitchens and interpret field conditions
  • Strong knowledge of kitchen cabinetry and standard kitchen design and construction practices
  • A creative eye and strong sense of design
  • The ability to design in a variety of styles and adapt your approach to each customer's preferences
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Exceptional attention to detail
  • The ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines
  • A strong commitment to customer service
  • Reliable transportation and the ability to travel to local job sites for measurements
What We Offer

Benchmark Kitchen & Bath is a growing company with an established reputation for quality products, thoughtful design, and exceptional customer service. We offer the opportunity to work in a professional showroom environment with high-quality products, a strong customer base, and a growing pipeline of projects.

Our upcoming move into a beautiful new facility represents an exciting next step for the company, and we're looking for someone who wants to grow with us.

The business is owned and operated by an experienced kitchen designer with 15 years of hands-on kitchen installation and general construction experience. That experience gives our team a practical understanding of what works in the field—not just what looks good on paper. We believe in a collaborative approach, and our designers work closely with one another and the rest of the team to share ideas, solve problems, and support each other throughout the design process.

Our showroom administrator provides important day-to-day support, including expediting and handling many of the time-consuming administrative and coordination tasks associated with kitchen projects. This allows our designers to spend more of their time doing what they do best: working with customers, developing great designs, and focusing on the design-specific aspects of each project.

We are looking for someone who values teamwork, takes pride in their work, and wants to be part of a company where their experience and ideas are valued.
