We’re looking for a dependable, organized, and caring food/distribution manager to join our childcare center team! This role is vital in providing healthy, properly portioned meals to young children while maintaining a clean, well-stocked kitchen. If you love cooking, enjoy working independently, and want to make a difference in children’s daily lives, we’d love to hear from you.

Position Details:
  • Schedule: Monday-Friday 7:30am- 3:30pm

  • Hours: 6-7 hours/day (32-35 hours per week)

  • Pay: Starting at $16-$18/hour depending on experience

Key Responsibilities:
  • Prepare and cook nutritious meals and snacks according to planned menus and portion guidelines

  • Maintain cleanliness and sanitation of kitchen areas, equipment, and tools

  • Monitor and maintain food inventory; order supplies as needed

  • Follow food safety regulations and allergy-specific protocols

  • Maintain accurate records of food usage, delivery logs, and inventory

  • Ensure timely meal preparation and delivery according to each center’s schedule

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
• Must be at least 18 years old and have a High School Diploma or GED
• Valid ServSafe or Food Safety in Childcare certification preferred 
• Demonstrates qualities of an effective leader, including genuine concern for others, excellent
listening, and problem-solving capabilities. Presents concerns in a thoughtful, balanced manner,
compromises and/or in group situations seeks consensus when appropriate.
• State of Iowa background check and fingerprints shall determine that the applicant has not
been “convicted of a felony... has no criminal record that the commissioner reasonably believes
renders the person unsuitable to be employed in a childcare center.”
• Certification in Adult and Pediatric First Aid & CPR completed within 30 days of employment.
 

PHYSICAL AND ENVIRONMENTAL REQUIREMENTS
With or without reasonable accommodation, this position requires:
• Extensive standing and walking; sitting on the floor and on low (12”) chairs.
• Frequent bending, stooping, and kneeling.
• Lifting and carrying children extensively in the infant/toddler program; less frequently in the
preschool program, but the children are heavier.
• Frequent moving of equipment (cots, tables, etc.).
• Exposure to unpleasant odors and fluids caused by vomit (occasional) and bodily elimination.
• Relatively frequent exposure to loud noises (baby crying, toys falling, and other common
occurrences of children at play).
• Ability to follow oral and written instructions
• Ability to work on your feet for long periods of time
• Ability to lift up to 50lbs on a daily basis
• Reliable and consistent.
