Job description

Job Title: Inventory Control Specialist II (3PL Coordinator)
Location: Houston, TX
Pay Rate: $23/hr (W2)

Job Summary:

The Inventory Control Specialist II will serve as a key coordinator between the internal warehouse and a third-party logistics (3PL) provider to ensure a seamless material flow that supports manufacturing operations. This role will manage inventory levels, forecast material requirements, coordinate logistics, and maintain consistent communication with all stakeholders. The goal is to prevent production disruptions by maintaining timely and accurate inventory transfers and alignments.

Key Responsibilities: Logistics Coordination:
  • Coordinate and ensure timely delivery of materials from the 3PL warehouse to internal facilities.

  • Monitor and track daily shipments to align with production schedules.

  • Communicate with logistics partners to address and resolve shipment delays or issues.

  • Work cross-functionally to prevent disruptions in production due to logistics failures.

Inventory Management:
  • Monitor internal inventory levels and verify quantities and accuracy.

  • Ensure alignment between on-site inventory and production needs.

  • Maintain proper documentation of inventory transactions and movements.

Forecasting & Planning:
  • Collaborate with scheduling teams to understand upcoming production needs.

  • Analyze demand forecasts and place timely material orders with the 3PL warehouse.

  • Communicate inventory needs and updates to purchasing, planning, and production teams.

  • Proactively update stakeholders on inventory status and potential risks.

Continuous Improvement:

  • Suggest cost-saving and efficiency-enhancing strategies.

  • Promote best practices in inventory accuracy and logistics planning.

Business Impact:

This role is critical to the success of manufacturing operations. Mismanagement or delays in inventory can halt production and result in significant revenue loss. By ensuring the right materials are available at the right time, the Inventory Control Specialist directly supports operational efficiency, cost control, and customer satisfaction.

Qualifications:
  • 3+ years of experience in supply chain and warehouse operations, preferably in Pharma/Biotech.

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree preferred.

  • CPIM certification highly desirable.

  • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office (especially Excel) and SAP.

  • High attention to detail and organizational skills.

  • Analytical thinker with a proactive, collaborative, and solution-oriented mindset.

  • Familiarity with inventory KPIs, data analysis, and reporting tools.
