National Sales Representative-Flat Rolled Steel

Location: Houston, TX (National Territory)

Job Type: Full-Time

Position Overview

Our client is seeking a highly driven National Sales Representative to develop and grow a multi-state territory. This role is responsible for building a strong book of business, expanding market share, and developing long-term customer partnerships within the steel and broader industrial distribution market.

Based in Houston, this position requires regular travel throughout the assigned territory. The ideal candidate is competitive, relationship-focused, and comfortable negotiating in a fast-moving, market-driven environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Build and grow a book of business through warm leads, cold outreach, referrals, and in-person visits
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with purchasing managers, executives, and key decision-makers
  • Gain deep understanding of customer operations, product applications, and supply chain needs
  • Prospect and open new accounts within assigned territory
  • Negotiate pricing and contracts aligned with market conditions and margin objectives
  • Monitor market trends, competitive activity, and industry pricing
  • Partner with inside sales and operations to ensure accurate order execution
  • Coordinate with internal departments including credit, purchasing, production, and logistics
  • Proactively monitor order status and resolve delivery or quality issues
  • Maintain CRM records and manage pipeline reporting
  • Travel regularly within assigned region

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree required
  • 3+ years of B2B sales experience preferred
