Informed by basic research done at our Sloan Kettering Institute, scientists across MSK collaborate to conduct innovative translational and clinical research that is driving a revolution in our understanding of cancer as a disease and improving the ability to prevent, diagnose, and treat it. MSK is dedicated to training the next generation of scientists and clinicians, who go on to pursue our mission at MSK and around the globe.
At Memorial Sloan Kettering, our social workers play a meaningful role in providing emotional support and guidance to people with cancer, as well as friends, families, and caregivers.
We are seeking to hire per diem Clinical Social Workers for our growing team in New York City, join us!
Role Overview:
  • Conduct screening and bio-psychosocial assessment of patients and families to assess their distress & develop ongoing clinical plans.
  • Provide clinical interventions and modification of the psychosocial plan, ongoing clinical assessments, advocacy, and assistance with resources for patients and their families.
  • Collaborate with an interprofessional team to address ongoing patient needs.
  • Assist patients/families in accessing appropriate psychosocial services along the continuum of care.
  • Identify the unique needs of assigned service; develop and implement appropriate interventions and programs.
  • Produce quality documentation in the medical record and all written correspondence; and prepare Philanthropic Budget Sheets and other departmental-related documentation.

Key Qualifications:
  • A Master's degree in Social Work and NY-LCSW are both required.
  • At least 3 year of post master's work experience in a hospital.

Core Skills:
  • Strong clinical skills with individuals, families, and groups are essential.
  • Experience in oncology and/or palliative care in a hospital setting.
  • Knowledge of supervisory skills and staff management is helpful.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.

Additional Information:
  • Location: Main Campus in NYC.
  • Schedule: Monday - Friday, 9 am - 5 pm
  • Reporting to the Manager, Social Work

Hours: Per diem as needed, hours vary but will typically be 9am-5pm
Pay Rate: $59/hr.
