Intellectual Property - Associate - Patent Prosecution (Chemistry/Molecular Biology)

Armstrong Teasdale LLP is seeking an experienceIP Associatewith patent preparation and prosecution expertise to join its Intellectual Property Group. The ideal candidate should possess patent preparation and prosecution experience inChemistry, Molecular Biology, Molecular Genetics, or Biomedical Engineering. Expertise in modern day genetics, antibodies, organic chemistry, or pharmaceutical chemistry is preferred. The candidate will assist with the preparation and prosecution of patent applications, patentability and clearance opinions, patent estate management, licensing and enforcement of patents for a diverse clientele.

Associates have an exciting opportunity to learn from and work closely with energetic, highly experienced patent practitioners in a friendly, cooperative environment.

  • Simultaneously handles the high-level and strategic aspects of multiple legal matters at different stages of progression, from inception to conclusion
  • Possess strong attention to detail and good interpersonal skills for communicating with attorneys and clients

  • Produces quality legal work and bills the required amounts of hours to ensure excellent client services
  • Manages business and generates business through group and individual efforts
  • Complies with the very highest ethical standards of the legal profession

Required Education:Juris Doctor

Preferred Education: Advanced degree in Chemistry, Molecular Biology, Molecular Genetics, or Biomedical Engineering.

Required Licenses and/or Certifications:Licensed to practice law in good standing in one or more jurisdictions where the Firm conducts business; must maintain applicable license renewal and CLE requirements; Registered to practice before the USPTO

Preferred Experience:3+ yearsโ€™ experience as a licensed attorney at a law firm

Supervisory Responsibilities:Indirect - actively utilizes support staff, patent agents, or junior associates to ensure client satisfaction

Travel Required:Less than 10%
