Associate Attorney - Personal Injury
Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced and driven Associate Attorney to join our personal injury team representing plaintiffs. The ideal candidate will manage a diverse caseload from pre-litigation through trial, advocate zealously for clients, and work collaboratively with partners, paralegals, and support staff to achieve outstanding results. This role offers meaningful trial exposure and professional growth within a fast-paced, client-focused firm.
Key Responsibilities

  • Handle a personal injury caseload for plaintiffs, including motor vehicle collisions, premises liability, and wrongful death matters.
  • Conduct thorough pre-litigation investigations, draft demand packages, negotiate settlements, and determine optimal timing for litigation.
  • Draft and file pleadings, complaints, discovery requests and responses, motions, and other litigation documents.
  • Take and defend depositions, prepare witnesses, and manage mediation and settlement conferences.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with clients, providing clear communication, case strategy updates, and counsel throughout the lifecycle of a matter.
  • Work closely with paralegals and support staff to organize case files, medical records, expert retention, and calendaring.
  • Prepare for and participate in trial, including witness preparation, exhibit organization, courtroom advocacy, and post-trial procedures.
  • Review and analyze medical records, bills, and expert reports to assess damages and liability.
  • Manage case budgets, track hours and expenses, and contribute to firm business development and client intake efforts.

Qualifications

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school and admission to the state bar.
  • 2+ years of experience handling personal injury plaintiff matters, with demonstrated pre-litigation and litigation experience.
  • Hands-on experience with solo depositions and meaningful trial exposure preferred.
  • Strong written and oral advocacy skills, including drafting complaints, motions, and settlement demands.
  • Proven ability to manage a caseload, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent client counseling skills and a commitment to client service and ethical practice.
  • Familiarity with personal injury substantive law, evidence rules, and litigation procedures.
  • Comfortable with legal research tools, case management software, and standard office technology.
  • Valid drivers license and willingness to travel to depositions, court hearings, and client meetings as needed.
