Allient Inc. is currently in growth mode and seeking a Junior Mechanical Engineer to join our team in Salem, Oregon!
The Junior Mechanical Engineer will be a part of the company's core Engineering team! We're looking for a motivated Junior Mechanical Engineer to work directly alongside an experienced mechanical engineer in a hands-on product development environment. This isn't a large corporate engineering role where you'll spend months doing one small task. You'll be involved in every phase of the engineering process-from concept through manufacturing. This position is ideal for someone who enjoys solving problems, wants to learn quickly, and is excited to take on increasing responsibility. Responsibilities:
  • Create and modify 3D models and drawings in SolidWorks
  • Assist with product design and mechanical assemblies
  • Prepare manufacturing drawings and engineering documentation
  • Support prototype builds and testing
  • Work with machine shops and manufacturing partners
  • Participate in design reviews and brainstorming sessions
  • Help troubleshoot manufacturing and assembly issues
  • Learn practical engineering methods used in real-world product development

Minimum Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering (or graduating within the next few months)
  • Experience with SolidWorks or similar CAD software
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Self-motivated with a willingness to ask questions and learn
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced, hands-on environment
  • Experience with machining or fabrication
  • Knowledge of GD&T
  • Experience creating engineering drawings
  • 3D printing or prototype experience
  • Internship or Formula SAE, Baja, robotics, or similar engineering project experience
