Mammo Tech l, PRN, Piedmont Healthcare John B. Amos Cancer Center
 
JOB PURPOSE:
The Mammography Technologist performs specialized examinations of the breast to help in the diagnosis and treatment of breast disease in patients. The Mammography Technologist performs a variety of tasks involving the operation of mammographic radiographic equipment and other equipment/devices as appropriate. Demonstrates ability to perform advance breast imaging procedures such as stereotactic and MRI biopsies and is competent/proficient with sterile procedures. Provides more complex technical care necessary to meet identified patient needs.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Performs quality screening, diagnostic and other mammography procedures.
2. Reviews all exam requisitions for pertinent information and makes notes on all additional pertinent information.
3. Demonstrates competence and proficiency in performing all required exams on patients, positioning the patient and equipment, selecting the protocol, technique and utilizing all required equipment.
4. Evaluate images for diagnostic quality, obtaining additional images as needed.
5. Ensures accuracy of each exam by following established procedures and labeling images correctly.
6. Provide Customer Service/Support to patient population.
7. Maintains all required records, reports, and files as required by Federal, State and other regulatory agencies.
8. May be required to demonstrate competence and proficiency in performing all radiological procedures on patients of all age groups. Positions patient, selects the correct protocol, and utilizes all required equipment.
9. Maintains proficiency to perform breast imaging interventional procedures.
10. Assist with performing and planning multiple diagnostic procedures in appropriate time
sequences.
11. Must be competent and proficient to position, select correct protocol and utilize imaging equipment on patients of all age groups for radiological exams, when requested.
12. Acts as a mentor for residents and junior technologists.
13. Ensures department meets all regulatory requirements.

MINIMUM EDUCATION REQUIRED:
Graduate of an JRCERT approved Radiologic Technology program.
MINIMUM EXPERIENCE REQUIRED: 1-year experience as a Mammography Technologist.
MINIMUM LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION REQUIRED BY LAW:
Registered Radiologic Technologist in Radiography (R) and Mammography (M) - ARRT.
ADDITIONAL QUALIFICATIONS:
BLS certified.
