Overview:
We are a structural engineering and timber construction firm with operations across multiple regions. Our dynamic team of structural engineers plays a key role in delivering efficient, practical designs for structures of all scales and complexities, from mass timber to freeform. We collaborate closely with architects and detailing/project management teams to create innovative solutions.
The Team:
We are a diverse, multi-cultural team with experience spanning Europe, Australasia, Canada, and the US. This breadth enables us to share best practices globally and apply them to signature structures.
Position Summary:
As Senior Structural Engineer joining our growing team, you will lead teams of project engineers working on creative structures with leading architects. Our design philosophy focuses on efficiency, supported by a computational engineering group that utilizes the latest form-finding and optimization techniques.
Responsibilities
  • Concept scheming and sketching to develop innovative structural solutions with architects and designers.
  • Lead and manage multiple teams of project engineers, drafters, and designers; perform quality control with assembly and fabrication teams.
  • Lead client meetings (in-person and remote) and facilitate creative design solutions to issues and challenges.
  • Provide engineering reports to clients, offer structural guidance on construction and design, and implement necessary modifications.
  • Conduct concept-level and detailed structural design and detailing, including calculations, sketches, and finite element modelling (static/dynamic) through pre-construction and construction phases, under mentorship.
  • Coordinate with internal project management, shop, and site teams to ensure on-time, on-budget delivery, meeting fabrication and erection constraints.
  • Conduct field reviews at project sites (remote or in-person where feasible) and collaborate with install teams on site.
  • Review project requirements to estimate material, equipment, and labor quantities and provide input on construction and development budgets.
  • Mentor junior structural engineers and contribute to the technical knowledge base.
  • Prepare and present engineering reports and provide structural advice to clients; propose necessary modifications.
  • Represent the team at conferences, lunch-and-learns, and seminars.
Requirements

  • Minimum 10 years of experience as a structural engineer, with at least 5 years in timber engineering.
  • Experience with seismic design in Canada/USA or abroad is a plus.
  • Professional licensure (PE, P.Eng., MIStructE, SE) is advantageous.
  • Experience leading the design of large-building projects; ability to collaborate with architects and clients to achieve pragmatic, cost-effective solutions.
  • Knowledge of Canadian, American, and European codes is beneficial.
  • Proficiency with Finite Element software (e.g., SAP2000, R-FEM, ETABS) and strong Excel skills for calculations. Experience with 3D modelling software (Rhino/Grasshopper/AutoCAD) is a plus.
  • Strong grasp of engineering fundamentals.
Compensation We offer a competitive salary and benefits package.
