Description
General Position Summary
The Software Project Manager will assist the software development projects by working directly with the Software Engineering team to organize the development tasks and plan out the schedule. This role will require a strong understanding of the software development process, agile methodologies, and communication skills to properly define the scope and goals of the development, convert requirements into actionable tasks, and coordinate with the Software Engineers on completing them effectively. This role will also assist the Software Engineering team with supporting technical support on software related inquiries and coding activities to address necessary changes.
Essential Job Functions
Project Management Activities
  • Define scope, goals, and deliverables in collaboration with the Software Engineering team and other stakeholders.
  • Develop and maintain a detailed project plan and timeline and allocate resources to tasks.
  • Lead regular standup discussions with Software Engineering team to update each member on the progress and organize next steps.
  • Coordinate discussions with cross-functional teams and stakeholders, as needed.
  • Prepare periodic reports to stakeholders as necessary or requested.
Technical Support Assistance Activities
  • Field inquiries escalated by Technical Support or Field Support team and investigate root causes with the assistance of the Principal Engineer.
  • Formulate responses for additional information inquiries or response to the inquiries.
  • Report back to the Software Engineering team on any changes needed and organize the list of potential fixes for future releases of the software.
Software Programming Activities
  • Assist Software Engineering team with software development and maintenance of products and components within Microsoft Visual Studio, SQL server, window device driver, XAML, and CSS.
  • Support the creation of necessary documentation which will be targeting the release of software.
Essential Job Requirements
Education
BA or BS degree in computer science or related field and/or equivalent combination of education and experience. Master's degree preferred.
Experience & Minimum Qualifications
  • Must have 4 - 6 years of work experience in design and development and software project management or equivalent experience.
  • Must have strong knowledge of Agile, Scrum, and/or other software development management methodologies.
  • Must have proficiency with project management tools. (i.e. Azure DevOps, MS Project)
  • Must have excellent communication and organizational skills.
  • Must have a working understanding of software development lifecycle (SDLC).
  • Must have coding experience in C# or equivalent and TSQL.
  • Must have debugging skills.
  • Must be tactful and flexible with diverse personalities.
Physical Requirements & Working Environment
  • This position requires the employee to frequently sit. In addition, the employee is occasionally required to stand, walk, use hands and fingers and reach with hands and arms.
  • Must be able to occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
  • Ability to read and analyze written information.
  • Ability to successfully respond to multiple work pressures.
  • Ability to communicate verbally and in writing to individuals and groups.
  • Ability to communicate verbally in person and using a phone.
  • Ability to listen for understanding and assist in problem solving.
