Job Title: Staff Engineering Designer - Bentley Microstation Location: Leawood, KS Type: Contract to Permanent Contractor Work Model: Onsite โ€“ onsite Hours: 40.0

Position Overview

System One LLC is seeking a Staff Engineering Technician to support its Virtual Design & Data Solutions (VDDS) team within the Power Providers Market Sector. This role focuses on Advanced Power Generation (APG) projects and involves collaboration with multidisciplinary engineering teams to design and deliver critical infrastructure solutions.

The ideal candidate will contribute to electrical system design efforts, including duct bank design, cable tray systems, grounding, lighting, and related infrastructure, while producing high-quality 2D/3D engineering deliverables.

Key Responsibilities

  • Function in a project engineering technician capacity under general supervision.
  • Develop and modify engineering drawings and technical deliverables using CAD/BIM tools.
  • Apply electrical engineering principles to create moderately complex design solutions.
  • Utilize tools such as Bentley MicroStation and other Bentley applications for design development.
  • Ensure deliverables meet applicable codes, standards, and internal procedures.
  • Review design inputs for accuracy and consistency.
  • Perform design calculations, material takeoffs, and quantity estimates.
  • Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams to support project development.
  • Provide technical guidance and direction to junior technicians and team members as needed.
  • Review and validate deliverables produced by others.
  • Maintain project schedules and support assignment planning.
  • Support field activities when required.
  • Stay current with emerging technologies and industry best practices.
  • Exercise judgment in interpreting design inputs and producing deliverables.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Associate Degree in Drafting, Engineering Technology, or a related field.
  • Experience with AGI32 lighting design software (preferred but not required).
  • Familiarity with illumination modeling and lighting calculations.

Required Qualifications

  • Minimum 5 years of relevant experience in engineering design or drafting.
  • Diploma or technical certificate required.
  • Strong experience with Bentley MicroStation.
  • Experience with:
    • 3D modeling of equipment
    • Duct bank design
    • Cable tray design
    • Grounding systems
    • Electrical lighting systems (a plus)
