Who We're Looking For
The Principal Software Developer role performs coding, debugging, testing and troubleshooting throughout the application development process, designing and developing software applications. This role is responsible for learning the codebase, attending design meetings, writing code, fixing bugs, and assisting the development team in all design-related tasks. This role will also act as mentor for junior team members.

Scope of the Role:
  • Direct Reports: This is an individual contributor role with no direct reports

Key Responsibilities
  • Design, develop, enhance, troubleshoot, and maintain software programs and components for new and existing products.
  • Modify existing software to correct issues, adapt it to new hardware, or upgrade interfaces and improve performance.
  • Research, design, develop, and test complex scripts.
  • Perform technical reviews of requirements, analyze source data and provide gap analysis.
  • Professionally maintain software and create updates to address customer and company concerns, needs, and design requirements.
  • Analyze and test programs and products before formal launch.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver high-quality software aligned with business goals and operational needs.
  • Actively identify ways to improve business software processes and interactions.
  • Proactively identify opportunities to improve software quality, system performance, business processes, and development processes.
  • Support and mentor team members, as well as support leaders in achieving department goals.

Experience, Education, and Certifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field. Master's degree preferred.
  • 8+ years of experience in software development, including design, coding, testing, debugging, and support.
  • Strong foundation in Java, Unix/Linux, shell scripting, SQL, and PL/SQL.

Additional Requirements:
  • Experience with software development using technologies such as Java, PL/SQL, SQL, C#, or similar programming languages.
  • Experience working with Oracle and/or PostgreSQL databases in large-scale environments.
  • Experience with Linux/Unix environments and shell scripting.
  • Experience with Apache Tomcat and API development.
  • Extensive functional testing and debugging skills.
  • Experience developing reusable shared components and frameworks in a Linux-based environment.
  • Working knowledge of basic database administration activities.
  • Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.
  • Experience with transaction rating and invoicing systems - including e-invoicing protocols is a plus.
  • Knowledge of financial accounting systems including tax application is a plus.
  • Knowledge of telecommunication protocols is a plus.
