Job description

Principal Security Engineer, Business Engagement
About the Team
We are revamping how the Information Security Business Engagement team works within LexisNexis Legal & Professional. This team sits at the intersection of security, product, and technology, working directly alongside our product and engineering organizations to embed security requirements into the products our customers rely on every day.
This is a unique opportunity to join at the point of change and help shape the direction of the function as we pivot across product and technology - with security positioned as an enabler of fast, confident innovation, not a roadblock to it.
The Role
As a Principal Security Engineer, you will be the senior security voice in the room as our product and technology teams design, build, and ship new features. You'll work closely with Product Managers and Engineering Leads to make sure security and trust are built in from the first requirement, not bolted on at the end. You will also partner closely with our Customer Engagement team, ensuring trust-related materials are updated accordingly.
You will operate with significant autonomy, regularly representing security in front of senior stakeholders. You will also mentor and guide more junior members of the Business Engagement team, helping shape how this function operates as it evolves.
Key Responsibilities
  • Partner with Product and Engineering teams to embed security requirements into new feature design from the outset, partnering with our DPO team where privacy considerations arise
  • Act as a trusted advisor to senior stakeholders, building credibility and influence
  • Collaborate across Information Security, ensuring the appropriate security teams are engaged in new feature design wherever they are needed
  • Partner with Product and Engineering to create and refresh customer trust materials - including brochures, whitepapers and questionnaire knowledge base articles - and transition them to our Customer Engagement team, ensuring customers can make informed purchasing decisions
  • Mentor and support more junior engineers within the Business Engagement team, sharing knowledge of both security domains and stakeholder engagement
  • Stay current on how AI is reshaping both product capability and the security risks and expectations that come with it

What You Bring
  • Substantial experience operating in a SaaS or cloud-based product environment, with a strong understanding of how security intersects with product design and go-to-market
  • A track record of working directly and effectively with Product and Engineering teams - comfortable challenging and being challenged
  • Confidence and credibility engaging with senior stakeholders, with the ability to influence outcomes independently
  • Strong working knowledge of security domains relevant to SaaS platforms (e.g. data protection, identity, application security); specialist security certification is valuable but not a prerequisite for the right background
  • Genuine curiosity about and fluency with AI tools and how they're changing both product development and security practice
  • Comfort operating autonomously across a global team

Nice to Have
  • Prior experience in a security, product, or engineering role that involved translating policy into technical or computational requirements
  • Familiarity with legal, compliance, or regulated industries
  • Exposure to AI-assisted development tools and workflows
  • Experience responding to customer security questionnaires and building or maintaining a trust knowledge base

We don't expect candidates to meet every point above - if most of this excites you and matches your background, we'd encourage you to apply.
What Success Looks Like
Within your first year, you'll have become a trusted, independent voice for security across our Tier one product roadmap - someone product and executive stakeholders seek out proactively, not someone brought in as an afterthought. You'll have helped shape how the Business Engagement function operates and will be actively developing the next generation of talent on the team.
U.S. National Base Pay Range: $104,900 - $174,700. Geographic differentials may apply in some locations to better reflect local market rates. This job is eligible for an annual incentive bonus.
