Job Description Junior Specification Technologist County Durham | Hybrid Working (4 Days Office / 1 Day WFH) | Monday-Friday Days | Up to 30,000 A well-established and growing food manufacturing business is seeking a Junior Specification Technologist to join its Technical team at a modern production facility in County Durham. This is an excellent opportunity for an individual looking to develop a career within food manufacturing specifications and technical compliance. The successful candidate will work closely with customers, suppliers, and internal departments to ensure product specifications are accurate, compliant, and delivered to the highest standards.

Full training will be provided for the right individual. Key Responsibilities Coordinate the collection of technical information required to create new product specifications. Produce and maintain accurate product specifications, ensuring compliance with customer, regulatory, and quality requirements.

Input specification data into customer-specific systems and online portals. Liaise with customers and suppliers to resolve technical queries and complete risk assessments. Ensure all product information meets legal and food safety requirements prior to approval.

Maintain and control technical documentation and site records. Provide supporting documentation to customers, including allergen information, policies, and procedures. Complete customer questionnaires, allergen assessments, and other technical documentation.

Review and approve product artwork. Support new product development activities from a technical perspective. Prepare certification documentation, including Halal, Kosher, Organic, and customer-specific requirements.

Keep up to date with current UK and EU food legislation. Requirements Degree in Food Science or a related discipline. Previous experience within a food manufacturing technical, quality, or specifications environment would be advantageous.

Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously. Excellent attention to detail and a methodical approach to problem-solving. Understanding of GMP, food safety principles, allergens, raw materials, and manufacturing processes.

Proficient in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel. Strong administrative, communication, and analytical skills. Enthusiastic, proactive, and eager to learn within a fast-paced environment.
