Job Title: Junior Project Controller
Location: Knoxville, TN
Employment Type: Full-Time
Job Summary:
Management Solutions is seeking a Junior Project Controller to support delivery of mission-critical services within a federal IT environment. This role is client-facing and supports Program Management in executing large, complex federal initiatives involving IT systems and cybersecurity operations.
The Junior Project Controller provides support to the Senior Project Controller for executing mission critical goals. This role includes supporting IT project governance, lifecycle execution, and strategic initiatives in a highly regulated federal environment. The position requires technical knowledge and the ability to support senior project team members in a fast-paced, client-facing environment.
Key Responsibilities:
Project Coordination & Support
  • Coordinate with internal stakeholders and customers to define and validate project requirements.
  • Support project planning activities, including schedule development, task tracking, and deliverable coordination.
  • Assist in ensuring project activities align with client strategic goals.

Project Tracking & Reporting
  • Track and report project status across all phases of the Project Development Lifecycle.
  • Develop and maintain project dashboards, metrics, and reporting artifacts.
  • Support preparation of periodic status reports and briefings for client leadership .

Governance, Risk & Compliance
  • Review project risks and support development of proactive mitigation strategies.
  • Maintain and enhance IT and Cybersecurity Program governance processes and related documentation.
  • Support compliance with federal IT and cybersecurity requirements and program standards.

Change Management & PMO Support
  • Support change control processes by documenting and tracking project scope, schedule, and cost adjustments.
  • Maintain and enhance PMO automated project tracking and reporting tools.
  • Ensure data accuracy and consistency across project management systems and reporting tools.

Performance Metrics & KPI Tracking
  • Establish, track, and report on key performance indicators (KPIs) related to cybersecurity posture and operational effectiveness.
  • Support analysis of KPIs such as vulnerability remediation rates, system compliance with security baselines, security tool coverage, and incident detection/response timelines.
  • Assist in identifying trends and providing data-driven insights to support decision-making.

Required Qualifications:
  • Associates degree from an accredited university in a relevant field.
  • 3 years of relevant professional experience supporting project coordination, project controls, program support, or similar functions.
  • Basic understanding of project management principles, including planning, scheduling, tracking, and reporting.
  • Experience supporting data tracking, reporting, or analysis using tools such as Excel, Power BI, or similar platforms.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with internal teams and client stakeholders, both verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to analyze information, identify issues, and support development of practical solutions.
  • Familiarity with documenting processes, maintaining records, and supporting governance or compliance-related activities.
  • Ability to work independently with guidance and as part of a team in a collaborative environment.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a Q clearance.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience supporting federal agencies.
  • Experience supporting cybersecurity operations or IT programs.
  • Prior experience in a consulting or professional services environment.
  • Possessing an active Q, L, or Top Secret clearance is strongly preferred

Work Authorization: U.S. Citizenship is required due to federal contract and/or security clearance requirements.
Working Conditions: This position is primarily performed in an office environment or a home office setting. Employees will be required to use a computer and other office equipment for extended periods. Must be able to remain in a stationary position for extended periods and operate a computer and standard office equipment.
