Description:

Position Overview:

This role supports the Design Team with the creation of drawings, part numbers, 3D CAD, and associated content, as well as data entry into cloud-based company systems. This position will periodically interface with the Applications, Product Management, Purchasing, Assembly, and Testing departments. This is a position for someone looking to grow their technical skills within a fast-paced engineering environment.

Key Responsibilities:

· Support Design Engineers with mechanical drafting work

· Prepare and maintain documentation including operating manuals, fabrication files, assembly files, specification sheets, and other documents as needed

· Handle small design tasks assigned by other departments within Schmalz

· Perform data entry into cloud-based software to create and maintain accurate product and project records

· Learn Schmalz product ranges to effectively support project needs and customer requirements

· Work with product managers to support product standardization and development

· Test prototypes and designs for performance and functionality

· Perform cost analysis for designs and work with the design team on cost reductions

· Maintain organized records of product specifications and performance results

· Create pneumatic diagrams for custom designs

· Manage and update third party vendor products and services database for use by the design and applications teams

· Support team members across both the Vacuum Automation and Handling Systems divisions, as needed

· Work with Assembly Team to accurately update design changes made during the build phase

· Other duties as required, relating to CAD management, documentation, and light assembly

Basic Qualifications

Education & Experience:

· Associate’s Degree in Mechanical Design/Drafting or a Bachelor’s Degree in a technical field (Engineering, Manufacturing, Robotics or equivalent)

· 1-3 years of relevant experience in engineering support, CAD drafting, or technical documentation

Technical Skills:

· Drawings & Documentation: Experience creating and interpreting engineering drawings and technical documentation

· 3D CAD: Proficiency with 3D CAD software (SolidWorks preferred, or equivalent)

· Data Management: Hands-on experience with data entry and database management

· Software Literacy: High proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook) and the ability to learn new cloud-based software systems quickly
