Position Summary
Under indirect supervision, providestechnical assistance in the application
of civil engineering principles, methods, and techniques. Conducts materials
tests and measurements according to prescribed methodology and procedural
guidelines. Conducts field inspections, and collects and prepares samples for
testing. Oversees and coordinates laboratory and testing facilities, equipment,
and supplies.

Preferred Qualifications
MINIMUM JOB REQUIREMENTS:
UNM Student with 1 to 3 years experience obtained by either Engineering Classes and training or working in industry performing directly related duties and responsibilities as specified. UNM student at the Freshman, Junior, Senior, orGraduate level.
Preferred Qualifications
Engineering core curriculum courses to include:
Math 120, College Algebra, College Calculus, English 102, Sociology, Mechanics
Engineering Design, General Physics, Engineering Statics. Records maintenanceskills.
Knowledge of civil engineering principles and practices gained thru at least 2years education or work experience.
Skill in the use of personal computers and related software applications.
Ability to conduct field inspections, surveys, and measurements for civilengineering projects.
Ability to write reports containing technical information.
Knowledge of supplies, equipment, and/or services ordering and inventorycontrol.
Ability to set up, calibrate, operate, troubleshoot, and maintain sampletesting equipment and instruments.
Ability to prepare and process laboratory samples using established protocols.
Ability to devise non-standard materials testing methods and procedures forcivil engineering projects.
Skill in collecting, analyzing, verifying, and manipulating research data.
Ability to coordinate and maintain of civil engineering laboratory protocol,procedures, equipment, and facilities.
Knowledge of data collection techniques.
Ability to train and supervise students in laboratory operations.
