Job description

We're looking to grow our Duck Technology Development Team!

Are you ready to take your Duck Creek expertise to the next level? If you're passionate about technology, enjoy solving complex problems, and thrive in a collaborative environment, this could be the opportunity for you.

As a Duck Creek Developer II – Billing, you'll play a key role in developing and supporting custom applications designed to enhance Duck Creek products and services. You'll build on your existing development foundation while taking on increasingly complex Billing configuration and integration efforts, using Duck Creek's proprietary tools alongside industry-standard code management systems.

But this isn't a role where you'll be coding in isolation. You'll work closely with Analysts, Developers, Technical Leads, Architects, Business and Quality SMEs, and Project Leadership to understand business requirements, develop effective solutions, and help plan future capabilities that align with client strategies.

You'll bring your expertise in the Duck Creek Billing Platform, including Author, Express, Server, User Admin, Billing, and Billing Integration. You'll also have opportunities to put your skills in ManuScript, SQL, APIs, C#, SOAP, REST, and other technologies to work while tackling complex customer issues and contributing to high-quality solutions.

And as you grow, you'll have the opportunity to help others grow, too. You'll provide guidance and mentorship to junior-level team members, participate in code reviews, and share your knowledge across the team—all while continuing to develop your own skills as you work toward a Senior Developer role.

What's in it for you? The chance to work on challenging client solutions, expand your Duck Creek expertise, collaborate with talented professionals, and make a meaningful impact on both our projects and the people around you.

So, if you're ready to take your Duck Creek career to the next level, apply now!

*We know you care about benefits and perks, so feel free to scroll down to that section, and then scroll back up to learn more about this role.

What You'll Do:

  • Engage with clients and internal stakeholders to understand their needs, ask thoughtful questions, and deliver high-quality work.

  • Develop customized Duck Creek Billing solutions through ManuScript configuration, including more complex components and integrations.

  • Apply your knowledge of the Duck Creek Billing Product, including Author, Express, Server, User Admin, Billing, and Billing Integration.

  • Develop and optimize SQL-based queries to support Billing development and troubleshooting.

  • Investigate and resolve complex customer issues, collaborating with senior developers when appropriate.

  • Assist with planning and designing solutions that align future capabilities with client functional and technical strategies.

  • Participate in code reviews to support quality and consistency across the development team.

  • Follow department coding standards and software development best practices.

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams throughout the software development lifecycle, including within an Agile environment.

  • Use available tools and technology, including AI, to improve efficiency and accuracy.

  • Provide guidance, mentorship, and support to junior-level team members.

  • Continue developing your technical expertise while contributing to the growth and development of those around you.

What You'll Bring:

  • 3–5 years of industry experience or equivalent training.

  • At least 3 years of experience with Duck Creek Billing or related Duck Creek product lines, including development experience with Duck Creek Toolsets. Industry training may substitute for Duck Creek experience in some cases.

  • Proficient to advanced knowledge of the Duck Creek Billing Product, including Author, Express, Server, User Admin, Billing, and Billing Integration.

  • Thorough understanding of Duck Creek ManuScript components and the ability to translate business needs into ManuScript Inheritance structures and technical components.

  • Hands-on experience with Duck Creek Author, including Fields, Pages, Forms, and Tables.

  • Hands-on experience with Duck Creek debugging tools, including TraceMonitor, ExampleUtil (including TSV), Data Tester, and Processing Exceptions.

  • Experience using Duck Creek Skins.

  • Experience using C#-based custom business objects.

  • Proficiency using the Duck Creek API.

  • Experience using Duck Creek Anywhere.

  • Experience with SOAP and REST APIs.

  • Experience with multiple Duck Creek product versions.

  • Experience with XML or a similar programming language.

  • Experience with SQL Server, including Stored Procedures, Triggers, User Defined Functions/Types, Cursors, and XQueries.

  • Experience with Billing Services, including Scheduled Activities and Async Queue.

  • Proficient use of source control.

  • Experience with project management and issue-tracking systems such as ADO/JIRA.

  • Understanding of the methods, timing, and reasons behind versioning.

  • Microsoft Office 365 experience is required.

  • Full knowledge of the software development lifecycle, including an Agile environment.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with strong attention to detail.

  • Highly motivated, team-oriented, and a self-starter.

  • Ability to work independently and effectively in a team environment.

  • Strong organizational, prioritization, and time-management skills.

  • Ability to mentor and support junior-level team members.

  • Bachelor's degree or higher in Business or Computer Information Systems preferred, although relevant work experience will be considered.

Working Conditions:

  • Full-time position, primarily Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM local time.

  • Ability to work outside of primary hours as needed.

  • Remote opportunity or the option to work from one of our offices in Springfield, MO; San Juan, Puerto Rico; or Tegucigalpa, Honduras.

  • Ability to travel as needed.

Why Join Duck Technology?

Bring your technical expertise, curiosity, and collaborative spirit to a team where you can continue to grow. As a Developer II – Billing, you'll have the opportunity to work on challenging Duck Creek solutions, learn from experienced technical professionals, and share your knowledge with teammates.

We're looking for people who take ownership, enjoy solving complex problems, and want to make an impact. You'll have the opportunity to expand your technical capabilities, mentor junior developers, collaborate across disciplines, and continue building the skills needed to advance toward a Senior Developer role.
