Job description

The Senior DevOps Engineer role is instrumental in designing, implementing, and maintaining scalable, secure, and automated infrastructure and deployment pipelines that support our growing portfolio of applications and services.
Job Duties and Responsibilities (Essential Job Functions) Common job activities are listed below; actual position responsibilities may vary. Refer to your manager or human resources for specific duties and performance expectations.
  1. Design, build, and maintain CI/CD pipelines to support rapid and reliable deployment of applications and services.
  2. Develop infrastructure as code (IaC) using tools such as Terraform, CloudFormation, or Azure Resource Manager (ARM) / Bicep templates.
  3. Manage and optimize AWS and Azure environments, ensuring scalability, performance, and cost-efficiency.
  4. Implement monitoring, logging, and alerting solutions to ensure system reliability and visibility.
  5. Collaborate with development teams to integrate DevOps best practices into the software development lifecycle.
  6. Automate operational tasks and improve system resilience through scripting and tooling.
  7. Ensure security and compliance across environments by implementing guardrails, policies, and vulnerability management.
  8. Participate in incident response and root cause analysis to continuously improve system reliability.
  9. Mentor junior engineers and contribute to DevOps standards and documentation.
  10. Perform other duties as requested or as needed to fulfill the purpose of the job.

Performance Expectations

Qualifications
Education:
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field.

Experience:
  • 5+ years of experience in DevOps, site reliability engineering, or infrastructure engineering.
  • Expert-level experience with AWS services (EC2, ECS, Lambda, S3, CloudWatch, IAM) and/or Azure services (Azure VMs, Container Apps/AKS, Functions, Blob Storage, Monitor, Entra ID).
  • Hands-on experience with CI/CD tools (GitHub Actions, Jenkins, AWS CodePipeline, Azure DevOps Pipelines).
  • Experience with containerization and orchestration (Docker, Kubernetes, Azure Kubernetes Service (AKS)).
  • Experience with observability tools (Prometheus, Grafana, ELK stack, Azure monitor, Application Insights) preferred.

Knowledge and Skills:
  • Strong proficiency in scripting languages (Bash, Python, PowerShell).
  • Strong understanding of networking, security, and system administration.
  • Familiarity with infrastructure as code tools (Terraform, CloudFormation, Azure Resource Manager (ARM))
  • Knowledge of DevSecOps practices and integration of security into CI/CD preferred.
  • Exposure to agile methodologies and enterprise-scale environments preferred.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to work in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.
  • Certifications in AWS, Azure or DevOps practices (AWS DevOps Engineer Professional, Microsoft Certified: DevOps Engineer Expert).

Wage: $153,000 - $178,000 annually; actual wage is based upon education and experience. Potential for annual discretionary bonus.
