Job description

Weston & Sampson is seeking an experienced Structural Engineer with 10 to 20 years of building design experience to support the planning, design, management, and delivery of structural engineering projects.

What you’ll do:

  • Lead and support the planning, structural design, and construction administration of building and vertical structure projects
  • Prepare and review structural drawings, specifications, calculations, reports, cost estimates, and design documentation
  • Manage project scope, budgets, schedules, technical quality, and coordination with internal teams, clients, architects, contractors, and other engineering disciplines
  • Provide technical guidance and mentoring to junior structural engineering staff
  • Support proposals, client development, and other business development activities in collaboration with practice, discipline, and marketing leaders
  • Participate in client meetings, site visits, construction phase services, and occasional travel to project sites and other W&S office locations

What you'll bring:

  • BS in Civil Engineering is required; MS in Civil or Structural Engineering is a plus
  • 10 to 20 years of structural engineering experience focused on building design
  • Licensed Professional Engineer is required with the ability to become licensed on North Carolina and South Carolina within 6 months of employment
  • Strong working knowledge of building codes, structural design standards, and construction practices
  • Experience with structural design of concrete, steel, masonry, wood, and foundation systems
  • Experience with water and wastewater treatment facilities, pump stations, process buildings, or similar infrastructure projects is a plus
  • Proficiency with structural analysis/design software and familiarity with Revit, AutoCAD, or similar production tools is preferred
  • Familiarity with structural engineering analysis software such as ETABS, STAAD, RAM, RISA, or similar programs
  • Demonstrated ability to manage technical, budgetary, schedule, and client aspects of projects
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to work collaboratively across disciplines
  • Valid driver’s license

Pay Range: $130,000-$150,000 annually depending on experience
