CLEARANCE: Secret or TS We are seeking a Junior Database Administrator to support the operation, maintenance, and performance of mission-critical databases in Azure SQL Managed Instance and Microsoft SQL Server environments. The Jr. DBA will work closely with the Senior DBA and Lead Data Architect to monitor database health, troubleshoot issues, perform routine maintenance, and support database security and data operations. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES: • Monitor and maintain Azure SQL Managed Instances and SQL Server databases. • Perform routine database maintenance, backups, restores, and health checks. • Assist with database performance troubleshooting, query optimization, and index maintenance. • Support database upgrades, patches, configuration changes, and deployments. • Manage database users, roles, permissions, and other routine security tasks. • Monitor and troubleshoot Azure Data Factory pipelines and data transfers. • Support application teams with database connectivity, queries, stored procedures, and schema changes. • Use T-SQL and PowerShell to perform database administration and automate routine tasks. • Document database configurations, issues, and standard operating procedures. • Support compliance with NIST, RMF, and DoD security requirements. REQUIRED SKILLS: • CompTIA Security+ certification • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Science, or IT. • 2-3 years of experience as a database administrator, with strong expertise in Microsoft SQL Server and Azure SQL. • Working knowledge of T-SQL and relational database concepts. • Basic understanding of database backup/recovery, performance monitoring, and security. • Familiarity with Microsoft Azure. • Strong troubleshooting and communication skills. PREFERRED SKILLS: • Experience with Azure SQL Managed Instance or SQL Server administration. • Experience with Azure Data Factory, Azure Monitor, or Log Analytics. • PowerShell scripting experience. • Familiarity with Azure DevOps/CI/CD. • Experience supporting DoD or federal environments. • Knowledge of NIST, RMF, or DoD STIG requirements.
