Job DescriptionArea Manager (Jr Manager)Reports To Assistant Operations Manager / Director of OperationsPosition SummaryThe Area Manager is responsible for the day-to-day operational performance of an assigned territory. This position oversees multiple customer accounts and is accountable for delivering consistent service quality, developing employees, maintaining safe work environments, managing labor budgets, and ensuring operational standards are consistently achieved.The Area Manager serves as the field leader for their assigned accounts and is expected to maintain a strong presence in the field through regular site visits, employee training, quality inspections, and operational support. This is a hands-on leadership role requiring the ability and willingness to perform cleaning duties, provide coverage when needed, train employees, and work alongside their teams to ensure ServiceMaster TBS standards are met.Essential Duties and ResponsibilitiesOperations ManagementManage the daily operations of assigned customer accounts.Ensure all contracted services are completed in accordance with ServiceMaster TBS standards and client specifications.Conduct routine account visits to inspect quality, observe employee performance, and identify opportunities for improvement.Provide hands-on operational support and assist with cleaning responsibilities when necessary to maintain service commitments.Maintain operational consistency across all assigned accounts.Leadership & Employee DevelopmentSupport recruiting efforts by identifying and referring qualified candidates.Train, coach, and develop employees to ensure consistent performance and compliance with company standards.Conduct performance coaching and disciplinary discussions as needed.Reinforce company policies, procedures, and performance expectations through regular field interaction.Lead by example through professionalism, accountability, and a strong work ethic.Client Relationship ManagementMaintain professional and courteous interactions with clients during site visits and operational communications.Respond promptly to operational concerns that are assigned through the company's customer service and support processes.Support the Customer Service and Support Desk teams by ensuring client issues are resolved promptly and professionally.Represent ServiceMaster TBS in a professional manner during all client interactions.Staffing & SchedulingEnsure all scheduled work is properly staffed.Coordinate coverage for employee absences and staffing shortages.Monitor staffing levels and communicate operational staffing needs to leadership.Personally provide coverage when operational needs require.Financial ManagementManage labor hours and operating expenses within approved budgets.Monitor staffing efficiency and labor utilization.Identify opportunities to improve operational efficiency while maintaining quality standards.Safety & ComplianceEnforce all company and client safety policies and procedures.Promote a culture of workplace safety through coaching and accountability.Conduct monthly safety meetings and reinforce safe work practices.Ensure compliance with company policies and client-specific safety requirements.Administrative ResponsibilitiesComplete all required administrative tasks accurately and on time.Maintain employee documentation and operational records.Utilize company software systems to complete operational reporting, payroll corrections, customer issue documentation, and required client reporting.Complete all assigned administrative responsibilities within established deadlines.QualificationsRequiredHigh school diploma or equivalent.Minimum of two years of janitorial or commercial cleaning experience.Previous supervisory or leadership experience.Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record.Strong communication, organizational, and leadership skills.Ability to work independently while managing multiple priorities.Ability and willingness to perform cleaning duties and work alongside employees in the field as needed.PreferredExperience managing multiple customer accounts.Experience managing labor budgets and operational performance.Experience coaching and developing employees.Experience using workforce management and operational software systems.Knowledge, Skills & AbilitiesStrong leadership and employee development skills.Excellent organizational and time management abilities.Effective verbal and written communication.Ability to solve operational problems and make sound decisions.Strong attention to detail and quality standards.Ability to work in a fast-paced, field-based environment.Ability to lead by example through hands-on participation and operational support.Physical RequirementsFrequent walking throughout customer facilities.Ability to stand, bend, kneel, climb stairs, and reach throughout the workday.Ability to lift and carry up to 30 pounds.Ability to operate company vehicles.Frequent travel between assigned customer locations.Ability to perform commercial cleaning tasks as required to support operations and maintain service commitments.Work EnvironmentThis position is primarily field-based and requires frequent travel between customer locations.
