Team MemberPosition Summary

The Team Member is responsible for providing exceptional customer service while supporting the daily operations of the store. This position assists customers with purchases, operates the point-of-sale (POS) system, maintains store cleanliness, stocks merchandise, and contributes to a safe, efficient, and welcoming environment for customers and fellow team members. Team Members are expected to perform all assigned duties in accordance with company policies and applicable federal, state, and local laws and regulations.

Essential Job FunctionsCustomer Service
  • Greet every customer in a friendly, courteous, and professional manner.
  • Provide prompt and accurate assistance with purchases, product inquiries, and customer concerns.
  • Promote company initiatives, including current promotions, fresh food offerings, and the customer loyalty program.
  • Deliver an exceptional customer experience by maintaining a positive, service-oriented attitude.
  • Communicate professionally with customers, vendors, and fellow team members.
Cash Handling & Point-of-Sale Operations
  • Accurately operate the Point-of-Sale (POS) system.
  • Process cash, credit/debit card, and other approved payment transactions.
  • Count money accurately, provide correct change, and balance the cash drawer according to company procedures.
  • Maintain accurate transaction records while safeguarding company assets.
Store Operations
  • Stock merchandise and replenish shelves throughout each shift to ensure products remain available and properly displayed.
  • Rotate inventory and monitor product freshness and expiration dates in accordance with company procedures.
  • Assist with receiving deliveries, checking in vendors, and verifying invoices.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and fully stocked sales floor, cooler, restrooms, food service areas (where applicable), and employee work areas.
  • Maintain the exterior appearance of the property, including fuel dispensers, parking areas, sidewalks, grass islands, and trash receptacles.
  • Promptly notify management of maintenance concerns, equipment issues, or unsafe conditions.
Safety & Compliance
  • Perform all duties in accordance with company safety policies and procedures.
  • Comply with all applicable Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) standards and all federal, state, and local safety regulations.
  • Properly use required personal protective equipment (PPE) when applicable.
  • Follow proper procedures for handling cleaning chemicals, spills, fuel-related incidents, and emergency situations.
  • Immediately report workplace injuries, accidents, hazards, or unsafe conditions to management.
  • Maintain compliance with all food safety, age-restricted sales, and regulatory requirements applicable to convenience store operations.

Work Environment

This position is performed in a convenience store environment and regularly involves exposure to varying temperatures, cleaning chemicals, food preparation equipment, moving merchandise, and outdoor weather conditions while maintaining the store and fuel islands.

Minimum Qualifications
  • High school diploma or GED preferred.
  • Must be at least 18 years of age.
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States.
  • Must successfully pass a pre-employment background check in accordance with applicable federal, state, and local laws and company hiring standards.
  • Previous retail, convenience store, grocery, food service, or customer service experience is preferred but not required.
  • Basic mathematical skills, including the ability to accurately count money and make change.
  • Ability to learn and operate a Point-of-Sale (POS) system.
  • Demonstrate professionalism, dependability, honesty, and strong customer service skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team.
  • Maintain reliable attendance and punctuality.
  • Must be available to work a flexible schedule, including evenings, weekends, holidays, and overtime as business needs require.
Physical Requirements
  • Ability to stand and walk for the majority of the scheduled shift.
  • Frequently lift, carry, push, and pull up to 50 pounds independently and occasionally up to 75 pounds with assistance or appropriate equipment.
  • Frequently bend, kneel, squat, stoop, twist, reach above shoulder level, and reach below the knees.
  • Safely climb and descend ladders or step stools.
  • Perform repetitive hand and arm movements associated with operating equipment, stocking merchandise, and cleaning.
  • Work indoors and outdoors in varying temperatures and weather conditions.
