Job description

Java Developer

The Java Developer role is directly involved with the development and support of java-based web applications. Within an existing application, the role will evaluate how to best meet requirements and implement enhancements as well as provide maintenance and support. For new applications, the role serves as a team member under application architect direction in developing java and web applications in an agile environment.

Example activities may include:

  • Participating as a developer and code reviewer on project teams.
  • Developing prototypes and proof-of-concept applications to determine the best technical approach.
  • Implementing new tools and approaches within the SDLC.
  • Participating in Agile scrum ceremonies
  • Working with business representatives to define and refine requirements
  • Working with quality assurance team members to create and deliver testable software

This role will spend much of their time producing code as part of an agile team. The role will also be part of implementing modern frameworks and technologies like Spring Boot and front-end JavaScript frameworks like ReactJS.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide development support for new or existing software products, including legacy applications, COTS solutions, and new custom development.
  • Incorporate security and quality assurance to all software development activity.
  • Responsible for developing application code as assigned.
  • Follow SDLC guidelines and actively engage with Agile team members
