Job Description:
Job Summary: The RN Resource Pool PRN I assesses, plans, implements, and assists with the provision of care for assigned patients. This position will be responsible for directing patient care for licensed and ancillary staff on his/her team. The RN Resource Pool requires demonstrated validated competency to float to various patient care areas. This role is committed to working a minimum number of shifts per the RN PRN Workplan agreement.
Essential Job Functions & Accountabilities:
  1. Performs complete data collection from patient with regard to age and developmental stage, presenting complaints, and pertinent history.
  2. Delivers nursing care to assigned group of patients including education directed towards identified knowledge deficits, treatment planning, pain management and discharge planning utilizing the nursing process.
  3. Delivers quality nursing care while minimizing the risk of infection, contamination, harm, or injury.
  4. Participates in the performance improvement process within the Network, Hospital, and department.
  5. Anticipates deteriorating life sign patterns or equipment malfunctions and takes appropriate action.
  6. Conduct specified bedside laboratory tests.
  7. Maintains accurate, detailed reports and records.
  8. Modifies patient treatment plans as indicated by patients' responses and conditions.
  9. Monitors, records and reports symptoms and changes in patients' conditions.
  10. Orders, interprets, and evaluates diagnostic tests to identify and assess patient's condition.
  11. Records patients' medical information and vital signs.
  12. Job description is not an all-inclusive list of duties and may be subject to change with or without notice. Staff are expected to perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:
Required Qualifications:
  • Associate's degree or higher Degree in Nursing from an accredited school of professional nursing.
  • 1 year of experience practicing as a Registered Nurse in an acute care facility.
  • Float to patient care areas based on requisite competencies and certifications
  • Current licensure by the Board of Nurse Examiners for the State of Texas or proof of reciprocity of licensure between the State of Texas and another state. Must be maintained throughout employment.
  • Current JPS recognized Basic Life Support (BLS) certification and must be maintained throughout employment.
  • Must maintain required certifications for the patient care areas assigned to throughout employment.
  • Successful completion of general nursing and unit specific competency based orientation program within 90 days.
  • Must pass EKG test within 90 days of hire.
