Description
Summary:
Specialty Engineer is an advanced journeyman level position with expertise in one or more areas such as HVAC, Kitchen Tech, Electrician, Carpentry or Plumbing. Specialty Engineers will work in multiple areas of the facility with a primary focus in the specialty area requiring intensive and diversified engineering principles and practices.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities:
  • Perform engineering rounds and check equipment for proper operating functionality and perform minor repairs and adjustments;
  • Maintain documentation;
  • Perform installation and repairs of failed equipment and parts on utility systems;
  • Perform preventive and corrective maintenance duties on buildings, building systems and equipment.
  • Provide outstanding customer service in a timely manner to both guests and fellow team members
  • Performs other duties as assigned

Position Requirements
Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Minimum of two (2) years of experience as a journeyman engineer.
  • Additional three (3) years of experience in the specialty field of HVAC, Kitchen, Electrical, Plumbing or Carpentry.
  • Knowledge all facets of the hotel engineering field including but not limited to HVAC, Kitchen Maintenance, Electrical, Plumbing, Carpentry, Life Safety Systems, Elevators, and Electronics.
  • Ability to work any and all hours/days and be able to rotate shifts if required.
  • Ability to work in pressure situations to meet deadlines.
  • Ability to think quickly and make good decisions using his knowledge and experience.
  • Organized and be able to complete projects in a timely manner.
  • Ability to handle conflict situations with professionalism.
  • Must be at least 21 years of age
  • Verify right to work in the United States

Physical Requirements
  • Occasionally sit at a desk and operate a personal computer.
  • This position requires considerable physical activity (90% of the shift) on a continuous basis throughout the shift.
  • Regularly walk, stand and stoop.
  • Occasionally work in unfavorable conditions that can be hot, cold, noisy and/or wet.
  • Occasionally work in awkward positions requiring crouching, kneeling, stooping and reaching overhead for extended periods of time.
  • Occasionally lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects weighing up to 50 lbs. alone or more with assistance
  • Use tools or equipment requiring a high degree of dexterity.

Potential Work Environment Conditions
The work environment is characterized as an indoor/outdoor maintenance of facilities and hotel property. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate, but in Machine rooms and Plant requires hearing protection. The immediate work environment is smoke free; however a smoking environment does exist in the building.
