Counseling - Athletics (Continuous Adjunct Pool)
Position Description
POSITION SUMMARY:This is a POOL position. Application materials for this part-time position are accepted on an on-going basis. As openings for temporary, part-time Athletics Counselor become available, candidates may be selected from this pool of applicants.
Required Qualifications
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:Demonstrated understanding of, sensitivity to, and respect for the diverse academic, socioeconomic, ethnic, religious, cultural background, disability, and sexual orientation of community college students, faculty, and staff.
AND
Master's in counseling, rehabilitation counseling, clinical psychology, counseling psychology, guidance counseling, educational counseling, social work, career development, marriage and family therapy or marriage, family and child counseling, OR the equivalent (NOTE: A bachelor's degree in one of the listed degrees and a license as a Marriage and Family Therapist (MFT) is an alternative qualification for this discipline.)
Upon hire, successful completion and/or annual renewal of the CCCAA Compliance examination with a passing score is required.
Preferred Qualifications
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
-One year of experience in community college athletics counseling.
-Knowledge and understanding of NCAA rules to enable student-athletes to compete, graduate, and transfer to a university.
-Experience complying with rules and regulations for transfer to Division 1, 2, 3, and NAIA universities.
-Experience providing insight on student-athlete progress utilizing academic alert systems.
-Experience creating/counseling new and existing student-athletes regarding educational plans, and academic and career goals to ensure compliance with NCAA and NAIA rules and regulations.
-Experience monitoring academic progress of student-athletes in alignment with District pathways and resources.
