The compensation offered to the candidate selected for the position will depend on several factors, including the candidate's educational background, skills and professional experience.
Advanced Practice Practitioner - PD - Flexible Days/Nights - Cardiac Surgery
Shift: Days/Nights Rotations
Reporting to: JCMC Lead CTS APP, NBI Lead CTS APP, Director of CTICU Intensivists JCMC, Cardiac Surgery Chief
Job Summary:
Jersey City Medical Center is seeking a PD - NP/PA in the cardiac surgery department. The NP is responsible for performing duties independently following established and standardized procedures and methods set forth by the cardiac surgeon. The NP is responsible for ICU and step-down coverage. As well as, providing cardiac surgery/critical care through assessment, diagnosis, clinical judgment and management to restore, maintain and improve the health status of patients
Essential Functions:
  • Evaluation and treatment of cardiac surgery patients through the pre-and post-operative period.
  • Examining and evaluation of patients daily.
  • Review of medications and radiology.
  • Ordering tests as appropriate.
  • Documentation for all services rendered including daily progress notes and event notes.
  • Performing clinical tasks on the patient unit such as removal of chest tubes, sutures, and temporary pacing wires as directed by the CTS surgeons
  • Emphasis is on direct patient care, working in coordination with the staff surgeon, house staff, hospital staff, and the patient.
  • Continually updates clinical knowledge and skills through consultation, formal and informal education, and review of literature for self.

Qualifications:
  • Current Licensure as an Advanced Practice Nurse in the State of New Jersey is required
  • Current Licensure as a Registered Nurse in the State of New Jersey is required

OR
  • Current certification by the National Commission of Certification of Physicians Assistants and the New Jersey State Board on the Regulation of Physician Assistants
  • CDS required
  • DEA required
  • BLS/ACLS required
  • 2-3 years of APP Cardiac Surgery Experience

Scheduling Requirements:
  • Per Diem
  • Days/Nights, Weekends, possible holidays
