Job description

• We are looking for a 40 hour a week prep and line cook to prepare food to the exact chef's specifications and to set up stations for menu. Cooking duties will consist of assisting the chef with their daily tasks. The successful candidate will play a key role in contributing to our customer satisfaction and acquisition goals.

General Accountabilities

  • Inspects and cleans food preparation areas or serving areas to ensure safe and sanitary food-handling practices.
  • Ensures food is stored and cooked at correct temperature.
  • Ensures freshness of food and ingredients by checking for quality, keeping track of old and new items, and rotating stock.
  • Seasons and cooks food according to recipes.
  • Bakes, roasts, broils, and steams meats, vegetables, and other foods.
  • Observes and tests foods to determine if they have been cooked sufficiently.
  • Prepare fruits and vegetables for consumption.
  • Carves and trims meats for hot or cold service.
  • Proven cooking experience, including experience as a line chef, restaurant cook or prep cook
  • Understanding of various cooking methods, ingredients, equipment and procedures
  • Set up and stocking stations with all necessary supplies
  • Prepare food for service (e.g. chopping vegetables, butchering meat, or preparing sauces)
  • Cook menu items in cooperation with the rest of the kitchen staff
  • Answer, report and follow chef's instructions
  • Clean up station and take care of leftover food
  • Stock inventory appropriately
  • Ensure that food comes out simultaneously, in high quality and in a timely fashion
  • Comply with nutrition and sanitation regulations and safety standards
  • Maintain a positive and professional approach with coworkers and customers
  • Accuracy and speed in executing assigned tasks
  • Familiar with industry's best practices

We are a family oriented restaurant serving a variety of Cali Mexican themed hot breakfast and lunch food choices, in addition to salads, smoothies, fresh pressed juices and açaí bowls. All our items are made to order from healthy fresh ingredients. Smoothies, juices and açaí bowls are prepared from fruits, vegetables and supplements providing additional vitamins and antioxidants.

We have inside dining, outdoor dining, phone in orders, walk in orders, customers who order at our large signature take out window, and also customers who order through 3rd party delivery services (Uber, Grubhub and DoorDash).
