Lead. Build. Shape the Future of Mobility in Texas.
Do you have an entrepreneurial spirit and a passion for shaping how people move? Foursquare ITP is seeking a Project Manager / Senior Transportation Planner to launch and grow our Texas presence-a role that combines strategic leadership, business development, leading transportation projects, and hands-on planning. This is more than a job-it's an opportunity to start something new: build a local office, grow a talented team, and expand our impact across the state.
As our Texas Practice Lead, you'll collaborate with senior leaders across the firm while cultivating partnerships with clients, agencies, and communities throughout the Lone Star State. You'll be the face of Foursquare ITP in Texas-leading innovative transportation planning projects, developing business opportunities, and helping to shape the next generation of sustainable mobility.
Why Foursquare ITP?
At Foursquare ITP, we are mission-driven with soul-improving daily life through a more people-focused approach to transportation planning. Our passion is lived every day, as we experience the systems we help shape. We show up as authentic partners to our clients, delivering innovative, tailored, and practical solutions that turn strategy into real-world impact.
Here, your work matters. You'll help connect communities, shape transit systems, and advance sustainable mobility options-from bus rapid transit to micromobility-while collaborating with a multidisciplinary team of planners, data scientists, designers, and engagement experts.
We invest in you. You'll gain access to robust technical and leadership training, mentorship, and professional development opportunities, supported by a collaborative culture that values balance, respect, and growth. Our benefits support your whole self-from 100% company-paid health insurance to flexible work-from-home, generous time off, and team events that keep us connected.
Your growth has no ceiling. At Foursquare ITP, your trajectory is driven by your ambition and contributions. You'll have the opportunity to build new services, lead high-visibility projects, and shape company strategy-backed by a firm that believes in your vision.
Your Impact
You'll be joining a team already making waves in Texas, with active work for CapMetro, VIA, DART, Houston METRO, TxDOT, and MPOs across the state. This work includes:
  • Transit planning projects including bus network redesigns and transit facility planning;
  • Strategic organizational assessments and vision plans developed with agency leadership teams;
  • Transit operations planning and performance measurement through data analytics and dashboards;
  • Active transportation planning, including gaps analysis, safety analysis, and corridor prioritization; and
  • Long-range plans, bikeshare plans, transit access studies, transportation demand management, and microtransit planning.

After tackling 25 diverse projects in just four years, we're ready to grow deeper roots-and you'll be the catalyst.
As our Texas Lead, you will:
  • Build and expand Foursquare ITP's presence across Texas by cultivating relationships and leading business development efforts in coordination with national experts.
  • Lead projects in sustainable mobility, including transit service planning, BRT and corridor planning, microtransit, and multimodal strategies. These projects will not all be in Texas - you will be able to leverage your knowledge in other places across the country as well.
  • Manage and mentor staff as the practice grows.
  • Represent Foursquare ITP at industry events, conferences, and client meetings-becoming a trusted partner and thought leader in the state.

What You'll Bring
  • A passion for transportation planning and improving communities through better mobility.
  • 10-20+ years of relevant experience in transportation planning for sustainable modes, including project and staff management.
  • Experience leading high-quality, impactful projects in at least one of Foursquare ITP's core focus areas: transit service planning, BRT and corridor planning, multimodal access, or active transportation.
  • Proven success in business development and client relationship building, ideally with Texas-based agencies or partners.
  • Strong written, oral, and visual communication skills and a collaborative, mentoring mindset.
  • A bachelor's or master's degree in transportation planning, urban planning, or related field.
  • Residence (or willingness to relocate) within commuting distance to Austin or Houston.
