ABOUT LSC:
Established by Congress in 1974, the Legal Services Corporation (LSC) is the countryโ€™s single largest funder of civil legal aid for low-income Americans. LSC currently funds roughly 130 independent nonprofit legal aid organizations with more than 800 offices throughout the nation. LSCโ€™s mission is to promote equal access to justice and provide grants for high-quality civil legal assistance to low-income Americans.


JOB FUNCTION:
Under the general direction of the Director of the Office of Program Performance (OPP) and their designee, engages in project management for the Technology Initiative Grants (TIG) program special projects, leads the planning and implementation of LSCโ€™s Innovations in Technology Conference, and supports TIG program operations and continuous improvement. Moderate travel is required annually. This position is part of a collective bargaining unit represented by the International Federation of Professional & Technical Engineers, Local 135.


PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Conference Project Management

Serves as project manager for the Legal Services Corporationโ€™s (LSC) annual Innovations in Technology Conference (ITC). ITC project management includes but is not limited to:

    • Designing and managing the process for approving session proposals, recruiting speakers and presenters, and curating the conference agenda.
    • In consultation with the TIG team, coordinating with LSCโ€™s Office of Information Technology and Operations (OITO) and Executive Office to develop marketing materials and website and social media to promote the conference.
    • Collaborating with the TIG team and LSC offices, including the Office of Financial and Administrative Services (OFAS) and the Executive Office, to support the identification of conference sponsors and exhibitors.
    • Serving as the primary point of contact for ITC pre-conference events and affiliated convenings, managing the end-to-end process for coordinating with relevant LSC staff and external stakeholders to ensure these events are integrated cohesively into the broader ITC project plan.
    • Engaging with external stakeholders as needed to support the planning and execution of the Innovations in Technology Conference.
    • Administering and maintaining the conference registration platform (e.g., Cvent), managing registration workflows, speaker resources, session materials, and conference communications.
    • Collaborating with LSCโ€™s Travel and Events Manager to support site selection, on-the-ground conference execution, venue logistics, vendor coordination, timeline management, and troubleshooting.
    • Leading post-conference debriefs with LSC staff to evaluate conference outcomes; document lessons learned and identify improvements to inform future planning cycles.


Project and Initiative Management

  • Manages TIG special projects focused on technologyโ€™s importance in improving legal service delivery. Project management responsibilities include, but are not limited to, developing project plans, creating website content, preparing and monitoring budgets and project scopes, and ensuring effective communication and information sharing between consultants and internal stakeholders to ensure the success and timeliness of each project.
  • Provides project management support to TIG program officers in the coordination of TIG cohort activities, including peer learning sessions, convenings, and related logistics. Responsibilities may include scheduling, communications, documentation of lessons learned and outcomes, and ensuring consistency of process across cohorts. Program officers retain subject matter expertise and content direction for cohort work.
  • Consults with TIG team members to leverage subject-matter expertise in the design and execution of TIG special projects and leads internal coordination across TIG and relevant LSC departments to ensure successful project delivery.
  • Applies best practices in project and change management to support the successful planning, execution, and adoption of new processes, tools, and technologies within the TIG program and with internal stakeholders.
  • Designs and maintains project tracking and reporting systems for TIG special projects, including dashboards and summary documents that communicate project status, milestones, and outcomes to OPP leadership and internal stakeholders.


Knowledge Management and Thought Leadership

  • Stays informed of emerging trends and innovation in conference design, event management, and convening practices to continuously improve ITC and TIG cohort work, consulting TIG team members for subject matter context as needed.


Intra-Department Collaboration

  • Collaborates with OPP and OITO to support the improvement of LSCโ€™s internal systems and tools as they relate to TIG special projects and conference management, escalating issues and coordinating across teams as appropriate.


Other Responsibilities

  • Contributes to the collaborative process of developing goals, objectives, and operational plans for the TIG program.
  • Works on other special projects as assigned by OPPโ€™s Director and their assignee.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

Technical/Specialized:

Minimum Experience Required:

  • Bachelorโ€™s degree in relevant discipline or equivalent years of experience
  • Minimum of five years of experience in:
  • Conference, convening, or large-scale event project management, including:
  • Leading registration management, programming development, and communications coordination
  • Driving agenda development, speaker recruitment and coordination, and attendee experience planning
  • Consulting internal subject matter experts and cross-functional partners to inform decisions and ensure alignment across all conference workstreams
  • Project and program management, including:
  • Leading multiple, complex, concurrent projects from initiation through completion
  • Developing and managing project plans, workstreams, timelines, and deliverables across extended planning cycles
  • Coordinating cross-functional teams and external stakeholders towards shared goals and deadlines
  • Communicating project status, decisions, and priorities clearly to leadership and stakeholders
  • Demonstrated ability to manage competing priorities, adapt plans in a dynamic environment, and drive outcomes across departments and with external partners
  • Demonstrated record of leading large-scale, multi-workstream project management efforts with increasing responsibility, establishing project management frameworks and standards, and driving cross-functional collaboration and accountability at an organizational level
  • High-level proficiency in Smartsheet or similar project management software, event management technology platforms (e.g., Cvent), and Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, Teams, Project and PowerPoint)

Preferred:

  • Working familiarity with the legal technology landscape, legal aid delivery models, or the access to justice ecosystem sufficient to support credible programming development, speaker recruitment, and field-facing communications
  • Experience managing or supporting a growing or scaling convening over multiple cycles
  • Experience in event planning or meeting management in an association, foundation, government, or non-profit setting
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) or Certified Meeting Planner (CMP) preferred but not required

Salary and Benefits:


Salary is commensurate with experience within a range of $110,113 - $114,562


LSC has a competitive market-based salary structure that establishes a specific salary range for this position which has 10 steps. A new hire is typically hired at Step 1 and receives a step increase annually. In special circumstances, LSC may authorize a new hire to start at a higher step based on a special business need or the significantly higher qualifications of the new employee. Employees hired after October 1st of any calendar year will receive their first step increase in January following their first full year of employment.
