Job description

Overview
Maintains a reliable, secure and efficient server and data storage network. Be able to deploy, configure, maintain and monitor all active server and storage devices in order to ensure smooth network operation. Participates as a team member on Technology team projects when called upon.
Responsibilities
  1. Establishes a reliable network by evaluating server and storage performance issues including availability, utilization, capacity, and latency; recommends the selection, installation, configuration, and testing of equipment.
  2. Takes a technical lead in projects as they relate to server and SAN environment.
  3. Assists in developing network policies and procedures.
  4. Maintains network performance by performing server and storage monitoring and analysis, and performance tuning; troubleshooting network problems; escalating problems to vendor.
  5. Secures network by developing network access, monitoring, control, and evaluation; maintaining documentation.
  6. Prepares IT team members by designing and conducting training programs; providing references and support documentation.
  7. Upgrades servers and storage by conferring with vendors; developing, testing, evaluating, and installing enhancements.
  8. Meets financial requirements by submitting information for budgets; monitoring expenses.
  9. Updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities; reading professional publications; maintaining personal networks; participating in professional organizations.
  10. Protects organization's value by keeping information confidential.
  11. Accomplishes organization goals by accepting ownership for accomplishing new and different requests; exploring opportunities to add value to job accomplishments.

Qualifications
Education:
Minimum of High school diploma or GED required. Associates, or technical degree preferred. Experience and or industry standard certification may be considered in lieu of degree. Multiple IT networking certifications preferred. Specific experience in a 1000 user or greater environment a plus.
Experience:
10 years of hands on IT experience required
Skills:
Advanced knowledge of desktop OS, Windows server 2008 and 2012, Active Directory, VMWare, SAN, Server Backup systems as well as security monitoring and virus scanning applications. Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to make formal presentations required.
Exhibits interpersonal skills and abilities to deal effectively with all levels of personnel.
Possess strong skills in network troubleshooting with an emphasis on firewalls, routing and WAN technology.
WORKING CONDITIONS
Ability to travel to all Health System facilities. Hearing and vision must be normal or corrected to within normal range. Able to perform the duties with or without reasonable accommodation. Able to participate in on-call.
Active work. Lifting 55 pounds and lifting and/or carrying such articles as servers, PC's, hardware, printers, and distribution system materials. This job involves standing, walking, climbing ladders, pulling cables, drilling holes, and other mechanical duties that require sound motor skills. Requires being able to stoop, kneel, and crouch downward and forward by bending legs and spine. Should be able to reach and extend hands and arms in any direction, bending, crawling, and stooping, in new construction, on existing office spaces/desks. Must have good manual dexterity for data entry and adjustment of paper and forms in printers
