Job description

IT Program Manager

 

Position Summary:

The IT Program Manager will assist in the development of Kootenai Health’s shorta' and longa'term strategic plan and vision for Information Technology services and will bring the strategic vision to operational reality. This role supports largea'scale system implementations, including EHR, ERP, or multia'site deployments, and operates within established IT governance processes such as demand intake, portfolio prioritization, and steering committee engagement.

This position manages multiple concurrent initiatives in a fasta'paced, highly matrixed environment with competing priorities. The role works with executive leadership, clinical stakeholders, and technical teams and relies on the ability to influence and drive alignment without direct authority. Familiarity with enterprise systems such as Epic, Workday, ServiceNow, or similar platforms is preferred.

Success in this role is defined by the ability to translate strategic vision into executable initiatives, align crossa'functional stakeholders, and deliver measurable outcomes that improve operational performance and patient care.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Helps to develop and enhance the vision for Information Technology and create necessary initiatives to meet departmental and organizational goals that are in alignment with and support the strategic plan of Kootenai Health
  • Participates in activities regarding IT project funding, resourcing and prioritization while advocating for the Information Technology department as it relates to programs and projects. Moves program and projects through portfolio planning and execution
  • Serves as a catalyst for department enhancement within Kootenai Health’s overall organizational strategy. Focus on improving customer satisfaction with technology and technological services by enabling the IT leadership to successfully execute on the top priority initiatives
  • Develops and maintains an effective reporting and communication strategy for target audiences (executive management, project stakeholders, downstream customers and others)
  • Manages customer expectations regarding the success of IT strategies and projects; ensures measureable outcomes are defined and reported for each strategy or project
  • Serves as a trusted liaison for IT with other departments (administration, quality, nursing, communications, finance, etc.) and serves as a valued member of special committees (safety, engagement, compassion committees, etc.)
  • Develops and executes plans for brand enhancement with a goal of improved business outcomes. Improves brand awareness and preference, positioning Kootenai Health Information Technology for lasting success
  • Leads communication efforts related to deployments, upgrades, optimizations and other system changes
  • Oversees the development of necessary communication plans for Epic implementation at regional hospitals
  • Establishes proper communications channels to ensure effective two way communications between regional partners and Kootenai Health that drives collaboration and innovation
  • Guides communication-related projects within IT from inception to completion using systematic and organized processes
  • Develops and delivers presentations (board of directors, director meetings, leadership meetings, regional hospital presentations, pitch strategy and development, etc.)
  • Provides guidance and communication support for IT projects as needed
  • Relies on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals
  • Regular and predictable attendance is an essential job function
  • Performs other related duties as assigned
  • Competent to meet age-specific needs of the unit assigned

Requirements and Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s degree preferred. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be accepted in lieu of a degree
  • 7 years’ experience in a health care or IT setting required with a minimum of 1 year in health care required
  • Proven track record of strategic planning, organizational development and successful initiative execution
  • Exceptional skills in team building and coaching
  • Experience in managing projects to completion
  • Program management/managing teams experience preferred
