Job description

IT Engineer, IT OperationsRole Overview

We are seeking an IT Engineer to join our IT Operations team - the group that keeps the core systems a ~1,000-person company runs on, reliable, secure, and continuously improving. This is a hands-on engineering role for someone who takes ownership end to end: you will build the integrations and automations that connect our IT and business platforms, keep critical services highly available, and be a dependable technical resource the rest of the team can rely on.

You will operate with a high degree of autonomy. Much of the work here isn't handed to you fully specified - you will investigate unfamiliar systems, reverse-engineer how things fit together in a fast-moving environment, and decide what's worth doing next. You will ship pragmatically, favoring solid, incremental improvements that land over perfect solutions that don't, and you will keep Security, Compliance, and Data close so everything you build stays governed. Throughout, you will raise issues early, communicate clearly with both engineers and non-technical stakeholders, and help the people around you.

If you like owning hard problems in a complex environment, working independently, and being the calm, capable engineer a team is glad to have, this is a meaningful opportunity to shape how our IT organization operates.

Role Responsibilities
  • Design, build, and maintain integrations and automations that connect our IT and business systems, eliminating manual, repetitive work.
  • Administer, configure, and optimize core IT platforms and business SaaS applications, ensuring consistent performance and reliability.
  • Script and deploy solutions organization-wide (Python, Bash, or similar) and automate repeatable operational processes.
  • Integrate systems through APIs and webhooks - handling authentication, rate limits, retries, and error cases.
  • Handle advanced technical troubleshooting across IT systems, endpoints, identity, and integrations, and support escalations from the IT Support team.
  • Implement proactive measures for high availability, monitor system performance, and remediate availability and performance issues before users feel them.
  • Contribute to disaster recovery planning and execution, ensuring swift restoration of critical services.
  • Proactively identify improvements to systems and processes, then scope and deliver them without waiting to be told.
  • Create and maintain clear documentation, configuration standards, and runbooks for both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Partner with engineering, security, and compliance teams to develop responsible, well-governed solutions.
  • Share knowledge with teammates and contribute to the overall capability of the IT Operations team.
  • Communicate technical concepts, risks, and trade-offs clearly and calmly to teammates and stakeholders.
  • Perform other duties as assigned to meet team and organizational needs.
Required Skills / Abilities
  • 3+ years of hands-on experience as an IT / systems engineer (or similar) in an enterprise environment, able to carry technical work independently.
  • Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or equivalent experience.
  • Strong API fluency (REST / JSON, OAuth, webhooks) and the ability to read and write code in Python, Bash, or similar.
  • Demonstrated experience integrating and automating across SaaS platforms and business systems.
  • Experience with applying AI and LLM-based automation to reduce operational toil.
  • A self-starter who works with a high degree of autonomy - identifies what needs doing, gathers context independently, and drives it to completion.
  • Comfortable operating amid ambiguity and incomplete documentation, quickly building understanding of unfamiliar and fast-changing systems.
  • Solid fundamentals in systems administration, corporate directory / identity, networking, and endpoint management.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication, with the maturity to keep stakeholders informed and to raise risks constructively.
  • A pragmatic, iterative delivery style - ship "good enough, then iterate" rather than stalling on perfection.
Ideal Qualifications

The qualifications below are ideal, but not all are required. We encourage candidates to apply if they satisfy some, but not all of these qualifications.

  • Experience with MDM solutions (Jamf, Intune) and supporting macOS at scale.
  • Familiarity with modern automation and workflow tooling, and version control systems.
  • Experience with monitoring, observability, and building resilient, highly available services.
  • Relevant industry certifications.
