Job description

The Panther Group is seeking an Advanced Solder Assembler to support a high-precision electronics manufacturing environment in Clearwater, FL. This role focuses on advanced soldering, rework, and inspection of complex circuit board assemblies, supporting aerospace and defense-related production.

We are looking for candidates with strong attention to detail, steady hands, and experience working with SMT and through-hole components, including fine-pitch and high-density assemblies.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform SMT and through-hole soldering on printed circuit boards (PCBs)
  • Conduct advanced rework and repair, including:
    • BGAs (Ball Grid Arrays)
    • QFNs, LGAs, and other leadless components
    • High-density and fine-pitch components
  • Use soldering equipment such as:
    • Soldering irons and stations
    • Hot air rework stations and hot plates
    • Reflow ovens and soldering machines
  • Perform inspection and quality checks using:
    • Microscopes
    • AOI (Automated Optical Inspection)
    • X-ray systems (as applicable)
  • Identify and correct solder defects (bridging, tombstoning, insufficient wetting, etc.)
  • Interpret engineering documentation including:
    • Work instructions
    • Schematics
    • BOMs and ECOs
  • Document defects, repairs, and corrective actions
  • Maintain ESD-safe, clean, and organized workstations
  • Collaborate with engineering, quality, and production teams
Required Qualifications
  • 4+ years of experience in electronic assembly, SMT soldering, or PCB rework
  • Strong experience with component-level rework and repair
  • Familiarity with IPC-A-610 and/or IPC J-STD standards
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and work instructions
  • Experience working in a manufacturing or electronics production environment
  • Strong attention to detail and manual dexterity
  • Basic computer skills
  • Ability to read and write English
  • U.S. Citizenship required
  • Must pass drug screen, background check, and medical/vision testing
Preferred Qualifications
  • IPC-A-610 and/or IPC J-STD certification (current or previous)
  • Experience with AOI and X-ray inspection systems
  • Experience in aerospace, defense, or high-reliability electronics
  • Experience working with microscopes and fine-pitch components
  • Cleanroom or ESD-controlled environment experience
