Under broad supervision, conducts analyses and experiments on organic and inorganic substances to determine and evaluate their chemical and physical properties and to investigate their applications. Graver Technologies is a U.S. based company serving the industrial filtration, separation and purification needs of companies around the globe. We are located in Newark, NJ and we are seeking a Quality Control Laboratory Technician to work in our plant to support the manufacturing of of our Ion Exchange products.
Job Purpose: Perform routine laboratory testing to support product quality, customer applications, and research & development initiatives within the Ion Exchange segment at our Newark, NJ location. This position will have a specific focus on Ion Exchange and resin technologies being utilized in the treatment/purification of a broad range of applications, including condensate polishing.
Position Responsibilities:
  • Perform all analytical QC testing on raw materials, finished products, specialty & routine raw material bead, Gravex and powdered testing as assigned.
  • Keep Accurate and Retrievable Records of Material Analyzed in the QC Lab
  • Perform QC testing and prepare certificates of analysis (COA)/conformance (COC) and origin (COO) for Ion exchange products.
  • Ensure that results are available when needed for processing or shipment.
  • Prepare products labels as assigned.
  • Complete contract review forms (CRFs) for all orders.
  • Provide Analytical Support for Laboratory Instrumentation
  • Develop or update operating procedures for instruments and recommend improvements to instrument operation and any other test methods to facilitate simpler operation or improvement reliability of results as needed.
  • Develop Knowledge and Understanding of Graver's Product Lines in the Customers' Applications
  • Develop Complete Understanding of the Chempax QC Module
  • Assist in the Development and Documentation of New Test Methods and Test Method Updates
  • Provide Instrument and Method Training, and Guidance to Laboratory Staff
  • Maintain Laboratory Equipment and Facilities in a Neat, Clean, Orderly and Professional Condition on a Daily Basis
  • Work cooperatively with team members, associates and manager.
  • Positively implement company policies, demonstrate good work ethics.

Qualifications and Skills:
  • A bachelor's degree in Chemistry (preferred) or other related sciences with 0-5 years of experience working in a laboratory environment

  • An Associate's degree in Chemistry or other related sciences with 3-10 years of experience working in a laboratory environment

OR
  • A high school education (or equivalent) with 10-15 years working in a laboratory environment
  • Proficiency in the Microsoft Office Suite
  • Knowledge of workplace safety and ability to follow safety procedures as required
  • Good understanding of mathematics
  • Physical ability to do lifting and other work as required
  • Knowledge of analytical equipment such as UV-Vis spectrophotometer, surface area analyzer, and particle size analyzer a plus
  • Ability to be part of a small cohesive team
  • Knowledge of work place safety and ability to follow safety procedures required
  • Self-driven, results oriented
