Job description

The Senior Investment Writer plays a critical role in shaping and delivering differentiated thought leadership that supports the firmโ€™s strategic priorities, strengthens brand credibility, and drives commercial outcomes. This role is responsible for developing high-impact content while partnering closely with Investments, Sales, Product, Compliance, and teams within Marketing.


The role is part of the Content Marketing team and reports to the Director of Thought Leadership.

We currently operate in a hybrid working model, whereby you will be required to work in-office 4 days per week.  

Location(s): Charlotte, NC, or Milwaukee, WI


  • Lead the creation of high-quality thought leadership content, including articles, whitepapers, videos, podcast scripting and thematic series aligned to firm priorities.
  • Translate complex market views, portfolio strategies, and macroeconomic themes into clear investment insights and differentiated narratives for client audiences.
  • Develop content that supports key campaigns and strategic initiatives (e.g., ETFs, Direct Indexing, SMAs, tax-aware investing, retirement, and wealth solutions).
  • Partner with investment teams, product specialists, and distribution to identify timely topics and define content objectives.
  • Contribute to editorial planning, content pipelines, and integrated campaign development.
  • Demonstrate deep knowledge of financial markets and fundamental investment vehicles.
  • Incorporate field feedback and distribution insights into content to improve relevance and effectiveness.
  • Ensure all content is accurate, compliant, and aligned with internal compliance standards and regulatory requirements.
  • Contribute to SEO/AEO best practices to enhance discoverability and audience reach.

Required Qualifications

  • 10+ years of experience in investment writing, financial journalism, or investment content strategy within asset management or financial services
  • Exceptional writing, editing, and storytelling skills with the ability to simplify complex topics without sacrificing accuracy.
  • Experience in developing thought leadership for institutional, wealth, or intermediary audiences, and specifically demonstrated experience writing on subjects: U.S. ETFs and portfolio construction, Direct indexing / SMAs, Tax-aware investing and investment tax implications
  • Strong understanding of capital markets, investment strategies, and asset allocation
  • Strategic thinker with the ability to connect content to business outcomes and client needs
  • Highly collaborative, with experience working across investment, marketing, and distribution teams
  • Demonstrated use of artificial intelligence to drive innovation and productivity
  • Detail-oriented with a strong focus on quality, accuracy, and compliance
  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office (PowerPoint, Word, Excel)

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience supporting go-to-market campaigns or product launches
  • Familiarity with SEO, digital content optimization, and AI-assisted content workflows
  • Relevant certifications (e.g., CFA, CAIA, Series 7 license or progress toward designation)
  • Experience in helping to support organizing activities in both physical and digital environments
  • Flexible, open-minded, proactive and cooperative personality
  • Structured work style, be confident working autonomously but like to be part of a team

Base Pay Range: $130,000 - $155,000

Actual base salary may vary based upon, but not limited to, relevant experience, time in role, base salary internal peers, prior performance, business sector, and geographic location. In addition to base salary, the competitive compensation package may include, depending on the role, participation in an incentive program linked to performance (for example, annual discretionary bonus programs, or other annual or non-annual incentive or sales plans.)
